What do you think. I would love to see us play USM or someone else close geographically on a spring Saturday night. I would imagine it would be a pretty good draw, especially if the band was there. I realize this cant happen now but it could be a nice revenue source IMO if it did.

I've always thought we should have a few preseason spring games a la NFL so we can make sure we have the preseason rankings right.

I would love to see this happenn. I high school we always had a jamboree after spring training. Before A&M joined the SEC i wanted to play them every year in the spring, but now I would like to play somebody big like Texas maybe USC.

Ok so we would take on a mid major with guys who are out there against you with nothing to lose and a chip on their shoulder, yea, nothing can go wrong with that.

exactly. a different spring opponent could easily hurt our star players, where as the current spring game guys wouldn't do that, obviously

Then play a real fricking game against a team of ex-LSU football players on a Saturday night. TS would be mostly full and the LSUAD would have mucho denaro deposited into their bank account afterwards.

Not sure if you're serious......

Why in the hell would you play against older guys who are more developed....especially along the lines, that's insanity.
I bet the same people who want the spring game to be a serious affair are the same ones who would bitch and moan if a key player would get hurt.

The spring game isn't for the entertainment of the fans, it's a final spring scrimmage where the players can show how far they've come since the end of the season. Also for the people who don't think there is different intensity between your players, and players from a mid major you're kidding yourself. If they have an open shot on your qb, think they will let up? Might be the greatest play of their life to say they sacked your qb. No need to increase the chance of injury.
And look at it from the perspective of the smaller schools, what in the hell do they have to gain? A legit contender using their players as tackling dummies? Hell those schools are quick to pull guys in regular season rent a wins against top teams.

Like who? NFL players won't be around to do it. Other folks have jobs or are too damn old.

Spring game is not for entertainment folks, it is a scrimmage. It is designed to see these guys (for the coaches) in a game-type situation.

Playing anyone besides your teammates is a real good way to get hurt.

I've seen this idea mentioned on other boards...I think it would be a great idea!!!

it would basically turn into a pre-season type game, but it would be a chance for the coaches to see how their players perform

Some northern teams do this in baseball in the fall and it counts toward the regular season. It also counts against their maximum allowable number of games, which isn't an issue if you can't start on Feb. 14 like the southern teams.

That said, I could see revenue pushing this issue in football as a scrimage between non-conference regional opponents. If nothing else a way to make up some $$$ for FCS schools if they stope getting scheduled in the fall.

However I have no interest in seeing our third line go up against SELU's 3rd line. Someone really could get killed.

Good grief, are you people really this dumb? Like I said earlier, the first time someone is seriously hurt you would probably be the first to bitch.

Other than your entertainment, what benefit is it to LSU? What benefit is it to the regional mid-major? Do you think they want their starting running back being crumpled by our massive D-Line in the name of practice? Some of yall need to think before you post.

If you can't figure out the difference between football and baseball I really shouldn't even waste my time typing a response. Pro baseball teams scrimmage college teams as well from time to time.....think it would be a good idea to see us go down to the Superdome and take on the Saints?

They already see this during practice and scrimmages when they go 1s on 1s. They're already adding a playoff system, which adds an extra game to the season. Preseason is different in the NFL, because that's what those guys do all day every day. Playing football is their job. Student athletes have several responsibilities that they have to focus on other than just playing ball, and adding several extra games becomes an issue.
