For me, he has oneof the most unique/awesome voices of all time.

Plus, Moondance, Into the Mystuc, Caravan, etc.

He's probably top 10 for me all time

He's good but really overrated by TD posters.

Pretty beastly, especially knowing the man.

As an artist, pretty well ranked. Not major, not minor.

Influential, probably not, unless you´d like to further his candidacy for being the first northern Irishman to espouse black soul and blues.

ouí

I´ve met him, and drank copious amounts of alcohol with him, but I wouldn´t say I know him as does one of years of friendship.

I'm as big a Van The Man fan as you'll ever meet, but the fact is just about anyone who knows him thinks he's an a-hole (ask Dr. John about him sometime)

He is funny, irreverent, and very irascible. One may say, he is, an alcoholic, after all.

A character, the best definition, no doubt.

Astral Weeks was so far ahead of its time. When he redid the album as a live version, about 5 years ago, it still sounds head of our time. Pure genius.

Top five for me. Love the Days Like this album, Healing Game, Down the Road, and Magic Time. A Night In San Francisco is also an amazing live album.
Celtic New Year.
See Me Through/Soldier of Fortune/Burning Ground.

Pretty high when it comes to creativity and unique style. He obviously has demons he has struggled with, and not always successfully.

Give me a choice between spending money to watch Van or getting paid to watch horrible tripe like Lady GaGa or Justin Bieber...Van wins every time.

The Healing Game FTW

"Behind the stadium" in Brown Eyed Girl, is a reference to LSU's Tiger Stadium, so he's secured his place with me with that.

Plus, my wife and daughters are all "brown-eyed girls", so there's that.
