It focuses on Larry Sanders (arguably the DPOY) but plenty of things to think about re: AD and defense in general- much like his post with Iguodala. Has video with Sanders breaking down his blocks of Kobe, Duncan, and Hoaard
For point of reference, Sanders is listed as 6'11" 235

A couple of points stand out
From Sanders
And one last point from Moore

A couple of points stand out
quote:
It's more than just effort, or wild athleticism, like so many players in the league. If perimeter defense is a science, manipulating the angles to block a shot is an art.
From Sanders
quote:
70-30 mental. I'm not bigger like a lot of guys I go against. As long as I am I could foul a lot. It's mostly mental. Positioning. Things like that
And one last point from Moore
quote:
He's still developing strength as an NBA player, a process that for most bigs takes up to eight years. In the meantime, he's not trying to muscle someone like Dwight Howard out of the post. He can't. Howard had one of his best games of the season against Sanders and the Bucks, scoring 31 points on 14 of 18 shooting. That's part of the learning curve, and part of the burden for great defenders. You're going to get worked some nights no matter what you do.

This is something I think people need to realize. Sure with the right pieces around him the Pelicans can contend in say 3 years, but it's going to be a while before he reaches his prime. Just look at LeBron, it's taken him this long to finally learn to maximize his talent. As awesome as Durant is he's still getting better. It's important to build a good team around Davis so he'll be a Pelican for life, but he really won't become the top player he can be until his 3rd contract.

Shot blocking is interesting. To get the really high block numbers, you need to lull the shooter into thinking that he can make it, then pounce, or get a player who takes wild shots.
