but. It's. "blowing up". with chains?

Metaire is a lost cause. Old Metaire has some gems, and there are some other good places peppered in (Impastano's, Mr. Gyro, Phoenecia) but for the most part it's am area like any other suburb in the country.

Now, could we get the one in BR out of the damned way too? The only thing they have is a good margarita.

old metairie is nothing like any suburb in the country. it was one of the 3 original french settlements in the city, the others being the french quarter and bayou gentilly. old metairie is one of a kind even for a suburb. I was also kind of kidding about clearview chains. You have to admit the clearview area is getting better though.

I went to Serranos once a year. On Cinco de Mayo when they have a band in tbe parking lot. Didn't eat, just drank beer.

pretty sure the whole Serranos franchise is done. From what I heard they were basically kicked out of Clearview for not paying their bills.

From their website:

quote:

THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATRONAGE We'd like to thank the clearview mall for 11 great years, and a special thanks to all our Metairie and surrounding area customers. Due to differences in our lease and construction negotiations, we've decided to close down our Metarie location at the Clearview Mall. Our location in Baton Rouge will still be open and serving the best mexican around! Please stay tuned, we'll be back in the New Orleans area soon.

And from Reddit:

quote:

My coworker went over to Semolina's in Clearview to pick up lunch and said she saw a bunch of angry/distressed people who'd showed up for work today only to be told without prior warning that the location was closed for good.

quote:

Wow! I worked at Serrano's in Lafayette. One day me and my bartender friend showed up for work to have the EXACT SAME THING happen to us. They were closed and didn't think telling anyone was important. frick that company.

Twin Peaks is throwing you over the edge, isn't it? Thought it was only reserved for Baton Rouge, huh?

Well guess what? Idiocracy is here.

A good sports bar would kill in the BR location. I almost wish that doesn't happen since I no longer am in college.

Not surprised that Serranos closed. It had been sliding for several years. Heck, Semolina's isn't what it was 15 years ago. I say shut them both down!
