Wow, thank you for the detailed post, that definitely helps!

Bacon.....I thought you had to have a parent or grandparent in the military for USAA. My brother serves but I don't think that counts. Come to think of it her dad is a Vietnam Vet, not sure if that counts with us getting married.

I'll also throw this out there with the Credit Union talk. Not all CU's are equal and it seems that the popularity of them (and economy?) over the last 10 years has narrowed the gap between CU's and big banks. I think in the last 5 years, online banks (or mostly online) are the new CU. I recently went auto loan shopping with great credit, practically zero debt-to-income, and great cash flow... yet walked away almost insulted from CU offerings.

So it almost seems that one bank doesn't cut it any more and you may need one for a different product in mind (saving/checking accounts, auto loan, mortgage, etc.) For instance, I have a buddy of mine currently finalizing an auto loan through PENFED, 1.49% @ 48 months and he has no credit history.

I guess what I'm saying is, which bank depends on what you want. Loyalty means nothing to them anymore, so it shouldn't to you either.
