i think it was kutcher, not grounding the driver allows you to feel a constant weight from address to follow thru
Correct. Grounding the club makes you lose the feel of the clubhead.

im going to try this out on the range, hitting off the tee is the worst part of my game. i began to just tee off with my 3 hybrid instead because i dont have a very flat swing

I've tried it and it just gave me a horrendous snap hook.

Oooh, I could use a hook. I tend to slice.
I dk why but that made me
Like you're saying you want to snap hook the ball

Jack Nicklaus used to do it, and I'm sure a lot of people copied him

Nicklaus did this years ago. He believed it promoted a smoother take away.

Greg Norman did it - incredible driver in his day.

I hover my driver and its for no particular reason other than being a habit. If I ever touch the bottom of the driver to the ground at address, I feel like I'm going to drop kick it.

I've tried it more than a few rounds. I can say that when I do "hover" my driver, I have to take a slower back swing so I don't hook it by rotating fast like I do if the club is grounded.
It seems like it helps me lock into my swing more by hovering. After a few beers, I usually ground the club and try to grip and rip.

If I don't ground the driver I feel like I grip the club too tightly. Matter of feel, I guess.
