They are two bands to me: pre-Document, and post-LRP. The first is possibly my favorite band of all time. The second I don't really care about other than a handfull of songs.

I'm sort of this way except I considered the IRS Records REM and the Warner Bros REM. I still think Green is an excellent album. Out of time should be scratched from their discography even though I see their purpose behind it. I'd say Automatic is a great too adn I didn't bother so much with Monster.

I did a few years back get into Reveal and think it's ok. But I'll just stick with their early stuff.

I don't mint out of time or automatic, but I wouldn't put it up there with the IRS output... Monster is where they lost me and I haven't bought a record since... Although I've heard some Ok songs since

That's probably the best way to divide the different eras.

There are some great tracks on Green, but I found it to be a little uneven.

For me, Out of Time is forever tainted by the abortion of an opening track (Radio Song) and the overplayed Losing My Religion (good song that got played into the ground). Because of that, it's probably my least favorite. Belong and Texarkana are solid, but lost in the shuffle. I don't even have that album on my iPod.
