Will we ever see an under 4 second 40 yard dash?

A human-machine hybrid will do it.

There are like 10 people on the OT who have already done it. In high school of course, a week before state.

From Wikipedia:
in 1986, Auburn's Bo Jackson ran the fastest 40 yard dash at an NFL combine, with a reported time of 4.12. This time was obviously scrutinized, but a time of 4.18 run by Jackson within the same week certainly added some support to the legitimacy of the times.

You'll see Usain Bolt run a 3.9 right after he throws a football 100 yards.

without a doubt. i bet in 1930, they asked: will we ever see a 7' tall guy play basketball?

This. With the help of PEDs of course

It's been done already. Hundreds of guys working in the Plants did it and all unfortunately tore up a knee and couldn't get that Football Scholarship.
Amazing.
Amazing.

4-5 guys on the OT have broke the 4.0 barrier.

Hand clocked or electronically timed?
Jackson's time was hand timed and I think they tend to be measured about .15 faster than the electronically measured ones.
Obviously the electronically measured ones are the true times. These are how they measure at the combine. Often you will hear of guys running much quicker on their pro days. These are usually hand timed.
The problem with an under 4 second forty is the acceleration. Starting from a stop will make this difficult if not impossible.
Seeing a sub 4 with an electronically timed 40 will not happen for a while if ever.
Unless we see some spectacular performance enhancing drugs in the future...

It'd be fun to see Bolt do it. Honestly it probably wouldn't be as great as you think because he tends to not really get started until about 50 meters or so. In the Olympics it looked like Justin Gatlin was probably the fastest 40 yard type runner in the world.

No, and Chris Johnson would rape Bolt in the 40.

Bolt's not the fastest guy out of the blocks. I'm certain there are many guys with better 40 times than him, and he won't be the guy who breaks 4 seconds.

Usain Bolt will never have a below 40 time
He is too tall and *slowish* off the blocks. His speed comes from his stride and leg turnover
Someone like Yohan Blake would be closer
ETA: Walter Dix - 40(ish)
The link says 3.75, but clearly that is wrong

We may not see it in our life times, so no.
But it'll happen eventually.
Bigger stronger faster.

Maurice Greene has the fastest 60 in 6.39.
