Depends on how detailed you want to be with it. I'd be sure to take time to route cables properly in front of and behind the motherboard. A couple of hours should be plenty for a basic build.

lot of variables. depends on if all parts show up working correctly, and how long it would take you to figure out if one part was not working correctly when all hooked together. and which one and dropping screws can be a major pain in the ass. windows updates take a bit to run, too id agree w/ 3-4 hours for a beginner. if you can use a screwdriver and read instructions you will be fine

A comparable build im considering: CPU: AMD fx-8350 4.0 ghz $189 Mobo: MSI AM3+ $69 GPU: 7870 $219 total for 3 components: $477. Not as godly as an i-7 with dual 7950s but pretty darn good imo. will need a higher watt psu and 8 or 16 gb good ram. 120 gig SSD and 1 TB HDD

i thought about going amd and a lesser video card, but all the reviews i read said the AMD just doesnt stack up nearly as well as the i7. plus i dont want my shite to be obsolete within a couple years. with that being said i havent built a total computer since my computer electronics class for T&I. back then i was putting out 2-3 computers every 2 hours. but id give myself 4-6 for something like this Mr G. and you guys are swell for all the advice and help. ill make sure to make a new topic and post the build when the parts come in.

shite blue, i know for sure im going with the 3820 i7. i still have to check out the motherboard you suggested, the interwebs is slow as molasses out here. im going to jump up to 32 gb of corsair ram and im still planning on the two 7950's for the time being. i just need to read up on this SLI business first.

The Geforce GTX 680s trade blows with the 7970 performance wise. The 670 is the same way with the 7950. And the 660ti barely edges out the 7870. USually the AMD cards are cheaper and run better at higher resolutions, but the geforce cards run better at stock clocks

I love it, especially for its water cooling features. Very space and great for cable management. I got the white one and I have a white/black look going. EDIT: My Build EDIT 2: If you're interested, I'd sell you my NZXT Switch

EVGA is highly regarded. I have two of the GTX 680 Classifieds and love them.
