I'd love to see DC/Baltimore get a real look from the committee. They have the facilities and infrastructure to accomodate something like the Olympics.

If they went through with a bid, it'd be strong and presumably very well-funded. Between the two cities, there'd be plenty of room to build everything. I think the bid would only have DC's name on it, even though it would really be the "Maryland" bid. And setting aside international visitors, the mass of people with disposable income in this region guarantees that every event would sell out 100%, no matter what was charged for tickets.

Probably the biggest drawback to such a bid is European snobbery at putting the Olympics in what is already considered the military power center of the world
