Maybe it's the fact that he attempted 22 shots per game despite having a career field goal percentage of 42%? 
If Iverson was less of a ballhog and more efficient from the field, he would have gotten the credit that he deserved.

Is 42% bad for a guard? Seems like that would be a pretty good percentage considering most of the players with high fg percentages are big men. Not a big AI fan btw.
