It's the attitude that goes along with clothing that makes someone a douche. There are preppy douches, fratty douches, cheeseball douches, etc.

I know tons of women in the South that think guys like that look like fricking retards.

Cant be that easy, considering ive never owned any sort of tapout, affliction, or similar tshirt. I actually find them even "douchier" than pleated short shorts.

Precisely. For instance I don't necessarily hate mixed martial arts in and of itself, but I abhor the MMA culture.

i was generalizing...let me generalize damn it!

Yes i agree with you though. The south is more accepting of that style though. You wouldn't get away with that kind of shite living in NY or LA. You'd stick out like a huge dick head imo.

I lived in NY for two years and saw plenty of people rocking the preppy style. Same in D.C. and Boston. The south isn't the only region with colleges & fraternities. In fact, the north fricking invented them and the style that goes along with them.

a button down is douchy?

I'm going to go ahead and guess that your worklife involves "shifts" and calculation of overtimes. Just playing the odds here.

As for your exhibit b, the problem with those shorts is they are pleated. Anything shorter than that would be fairly gay, and anything longer than that would be bad. Those fricking shoes are horrible though. We killed those damn things off in the late 80s, I can't believe those ugly things came back.

I think by and large it's more prevalent among people here (south) than anywhere else.

on a per capita basis I'm sure you're right. but you also have to consider all the styles that weren't discussed in this thread .. like actually knowing how to dress well.

I don't see many people wearing flat-brimmed hats, earings, tapout shirts, fox-racer shirts, etc. now that i'm in college at an SEC school. Everyone dresses pretty goddamned similair.

The only thing that I think looks fricking retarded is when people try to look frat-tastic on a monday afternoon. Acceptable for tailgating and social gatherings, but I'll assume you are a freshman if you wear your PFG and sunglass-strap around campus all the time... once you get past freshman year, nobody gives a shite about you or what fraternity you are in.

Also I think Snap-backs are pretty ghey but they are so common that I can't make any assumptions about the people who wear them.

Maybe older guys or non-sexually active people. But the vast vast majority of guys who go to clubs, warehouse parties etc where earrings, snapbacks, flatbills, skinny jeans, "basketball" sneakers, crew necks, cardigans, beanies etc etc

take a walk around Brooklyn, Soho, and Chelsea. I doubt you'll see one pair of pleated khakis and boat shoes imo. If you do, it will be rare.

Sounds like the "vast vast majority of guys" ARE douches. Do you really need to wear that ridiculous clown get-up in order to get laid? What does that say about you? What does it say about the materialistic dumbass cumdumpsters you're chasing?

Real women want a real man, not a preening peacock with earrings, frosted hair, and that other nonsense.

It looks lame as shite. Especially when worn with no t-shirt underneath, and shorts (likely the mid-thigh style I spoke of earlier) and boat shoes. Collars should never -- I repeat NEVER -- be buttoned at the tips. There are plenty of nice dress shirts you can buy without the buttons. Only frat boys wear that shite and think it looks good. Sorry, but that's the truth. Trust me, I know, because I used to dress like that in college. Makes me want to travel back in time and put a bullet in my head.

i will agree with a few tings you said, but i won't agree with the under shirt thing. I used to wear them all the time. However I prefer the style without them. Plus this is south louisiana, like i need another layer of clothing to make me sweat in the summer. The shorts that go to mid thigh, .
