Les actually encourages kids to take their visits to (in his words) " See if you really want to be a Tiger."

I can understand looking at Bama, but UT is a crappy program. A&M will eat their recruiting lunch in the near future and beyond.

For an official visit?
Or do you have any basis for this?

Yea, not sure either. I wasn't being serious about an official visit, but to be so sure about him going to Florida I would like to know what he's basing this on?

yeah, there is no doubt he will take an OV to Florida, but to write him off to them is absurd

but UT is a crappy program

They may be underachievers, but DeLoss Dodds had a point when he said their bad seasons are better than Missouri's best. If you view NC or bust, then 9-4 is a crappy year, but it's not 0-12.

what's funny is how many people used to argue on this site that A&M was garbage and could never compete with UT

There are enough good players in Texas for both UT and A&M to be good. UT's relative future success depends on how long Mack stays and if they hire a good coach behind him. A program like UT is a good hire away from being back in the top 5 by the coaches 2nd year at worst. Here's hoping Mack stays for a long time

100% agreed. There really is no reason for either program to be down long term. Just like LSU. But bad coaching hires happen (McWilliams, Hallman, Fran, etc). There's more than enough talent in Texas alone to feed multiple major programs much less surrounding areas.

I'm not 100% sure of that. The right hire maybe but there is a lot of rot in their program right now. There are huge entitlement issues that need to be addressed and it takes a few years to change a culture. I think the next coach at Texas will get run off in 4-5 years or so and the following one will be a huge success.

You guys saw it with a guy like Dinardo who had his moments but never broke through. But he set the stage and the program up for Saban to capitalize on it without having to deal with the mess Curley left. Sherman was our Dinardo. I think UTx will need a bridge coach.

I guess it's a matter or opinion, but I think the rot at UT is very different than the problems at LSU in the 90's. LSU wasn't just bad hires, we made bad hires because we weren't willing to put the resources into the program. DiNardo was a compromise hire, because the AD limited what we would pay. We could have hired Mack Brown(back then he would have been a great hire) but settled for Gerry D after Joe Dean would not buy out his first choice, Pat Sullivan from TCU

IMO, the inertia and entitlement you are talking about at UT is all Mack and DeLoss. Those guys have been there too long and if they hire the right guy, he could clean that out pretty quick. But that's the key, hire the right guy. But even at Florida, they endured 3 less than stellar years with Zook and won the BCS in Meyer's 2nd year. I think UT will try to hard to get an established guy rather than find the next Meyer or MSU Saban. Anyway, I hope Mack stays for a long time, cause hte longer he's there, the worse they will get

He also said he wants to make sure his family is comfortable with his decision. Pretty sure mama is in our corner after Landon went against her wishes.

well now she says she wants her kids to play together, but Willis didn't mention Bama when he listed his favorites, so who knows. like I said earlier, all indications are he is LSU's to lose, but I still don't think Florida, Bama, and A&M can be ruled out this early
