I couldn't help myself. Insulting The Decemberists is like a hand grenade to a room full of hipsters. Toss it out and one of them will selflessly jump on top to save the crowd.

Nah, we like a lot of the same stuff. I'm not a hipster. I just think MaS are pretty boring and contrived. From the way they dress to the same chord progressions, melodies, and time signatures.

I really like Yankee Bayonet, and I like another two or three songs, but some of their stuff just makes me scratch my head.

Listen to down by the water. I mean, I don't like all of their stuff and I'm not some super fan, but the guy can certainly write

I don't hate them, but they're extremely overrated and, frankly, boring as shite. That was kind of my original point. You find Mumford and Sons boring and contrived. That's about how I feel about The Decemberists.

And that's fine. They aren't my favorite. But for that genre they absolutely blow Mumford and sons out of the water. I feel like Mumford and sons were put together by a record label in La as a gimmicky marketing experiment.

I just find that strange. I guess I just like M&Ss more.

I've listened to each album 2 or 3 times. That's quite enough for me. I will listen to something I enjoy instead.

Decemberists aren't anything special in my book. Not going through the whole thread, but I'm of the belief that Rock is coming back in this decade.

Does anyone play classic blues-based rock anymore? The last I remember was the Black Crowes..

Miss the blues-rock revival scene from the early 2000s?

See Black Keyes. However, my favorite band to do it from the past decade has to be Audioslave. There was just something so...perfect about Tom Morello jamming out on blues riffs with the lead singer from Soundgarden wailing behind him.
