Josh Hamilton: Rangers fans are spoiled - DFW is not a true baseball town

"There are true baseball fans in Texas, but it's not a true baseball town," said Hamilton, who while with the Rangers was booed during the AL wild-card loss to Baltimore at the end of last season.
Hamilton, who signed a five-year $125 million deal with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim this offseason, said that Dallas has "always been a football town."
"They're supportive," Hamilton said about the fans, "but they also got a little spoiled at the same time pretty quickly."
Hamilton added: "You think about three to four years ago (before two straight World Series appearances in 2010 and 2011). It's like, come on man, are you happier there again?"

He was asked in the interview what the reaction for Rangers' fans might be when he comes to the plate for the first time in Arlington wearing an Angels uniform on Friday, April 5.
"It will be mixed feelings from the crowd," Hamilton said. "People who really get it will cheer and the people who don't will boo. Either way, I'll do what I got to do to help my team win."

I don't think the reaction when he returns to arlington will be "mixed" at all... he'll be treated like the POS he is.

I will be booing him

I don't disagree with what he said at all. Dallas is Cowboys first and foremost. If the Rangers aren't winning and then signing guys like Chan Ho Park, nobody cares about them.
That said, he is a dick for coming out and saying that after how he turned his career around in Dallas.

He's an ungrateful son of a bitch. The thing that ticked me off the most was the Rangers not getting a chance to respond to the Angles offer

He's lucky Dallas is such a shitty baseball town. A true baseball tow would've run him out of town on a rail a long time ago. They gave him the softest ride possible, and now he's gonna bitch about the kid gloves?
What a dickface.
What a dickface.

Besides the drugs and stuff, he was a pretty good player for the Rangers.

This. 1000 times, this.
Anyone who watched even 1/3 of the Rangers' games last year could point out that he was giving half an effort. He starts out with arguably the best April/May in baseball history, then completely tanks the rest of the year. Then he offers up an excuse that he felt God was upset with him for not being able to quit chewing tobacco. fricking seriously?????

He was. Imagine what he could have been if he actually gave a shite.

He's a delusional nutjob. I hope the Angels have a good babysitter on speed dial

Sure. He was a great player. He was also a great player who skipped out on an entire weekend of baseball because he said he had a headache brought on by sports drinks. He couldn't hit during the day because of his blue eyes. He went into a slump because God told him to give up chewing tobacco.
And on and on. A town like Boston would've eaten him alive. Hamilton still didn't really hear any criticism until late into his final year. And that's AFTER he had his relapse in Sherlock's and the photos of him cheating on his wife showed up online. People pretty much let that slide.
In five seasons in Texas, he played in 150 games only once. He missed at least a quarter of his team's games in two of his five seasons. And he had a personal life coach provided by the team to keep him out of trouble. I mean, has there ever been a more high maintenance player? And he still got a free pass for four and half years.
He should thank God Texas doesn't care about baseball. Almost any other town would've run out of patience with him a long time ago.
