Actually he wasn't as keen on the idea as Ray Wooldridge.

The judge presiding over those court cases he was involved in? So many choices. You really need to think these through before proposing stuff like that. Paul? Katrina? Utah? Reality itself? Or will Benson retire Shinn's jersey?

Retire Stern's jersey. Why you ask? Basketball reasons.

A player doesn't have to win anything to have his jersey retired. Usually if they were on a team for at least 10 years or so teams will often honor them for being there. Speaking of the Hornets they are the worst example of retiring jerseys. They retired that dude's jersey that drove like a maniac at over 100mph and killed himself. He wasn't even a good player or on the team that long. They only retired his jersey because they moved here and the dude went to Southern.

Last time I checked the city just hosted the Super Bowl and Kid Rock is coming next week...things are far from a "post-Katrina" wasteland like the media thinks.

Yea but Pistol Pete actually had a huge impact. I can understand retiring that one.

but he's a legend/white/ and went to LSU so his jersey automatically should be retired.....he actually didn't do anything to keep a pro team here.

So is Marcus Thornton and he is a much better player..... maybe once the team fires Monty, Thornton will want to come back to finish his career.

Fair enough. But there is still a ways to go.

Mens Final Four BCS National Championship Super Bowl Women's Final Four Wrestlemania 30 (2014) NBA All Star Game (2014) Did I miss anything? I'd say NOLA is doing just fine. For those who "still have a ways to go" likely had a ways to go and weren't doing shite before Katrina to begin with.

Yep. Still too much deteriorating/destroyed buildings in parts of Central City, Bywater and the Ninth Ward that need to be rehabbed or turned into useable space. Development (some may call it gentrification) needs to speed up in Central City, and property needs to be placed back into commerce. Need more population and, especially, population density (it's happening, but it will still take a little time). I'm a big cheerleader for what has been accomplished so far. I'm just saying there's more work ahead and more to be accomplished.

Hosting major tourist events and supporting 41 regular season games plus more are two entirely different things drawing from nearly entirely different populations.
