Best "City-Wide" Rivalries in Professional Sports?

As a college first fan it doesn't matter the sport.. I'm a Gamecock 1st, 2nd, and 3rd but obviously in the big cities of the ole USA have different teams for each sport and thus their rivalries must spread to different cities.
So I was wondering which 2 cities have the best professional rivalries across the board?
I know Boston-NY must be up there. Obviously Sox v Yankees, Patriots v Jets + the recent Pats v Giants Super Bowl. Not too big of an NBA or NHL fan so not sure how the Celtics and Knicks/Nets feel about each other?
Any other suggestions?

Probably the Top 3 in some order:
New York and Boston/New England
Chicago and Detroit
Los Angeles and San Francisco
Other Notables:
New York and Philadelphia
Pittsburgh and Philadelphia

Not really.
LA doesn't give a crap about SF...see Dodgers vs. Giants - it's mostly one-sided.

Rams-49ers were a pretty intense rivalry when the Rams were still in LA.

So intense in fact the 49ers beat the Rams 17 times in a row at one point.

Baltimore doesn't care about Cleveland. At all. We care about Pittsburgh and NY. Of course, NYC isn't aware Baltimore exists.

It might have been a one-sided rivalry but the 49ers players and fans still cared about beating the Rams. Remember the "same old sorry-arse Rams" quote? Why would one of the 49ers players say that if they didn't consider the Rams a rival? There was definitely some hatred there.

Oakland-San Francisco?
Aren't there are usually at least 3 or 4 homicides and several dozen assaults before/during/after Niners-Raiders games.

Baltimore doesn't care about any of the NY teams either outside of the Yankees. Baltimore/DC's a bigger city rivalry but honestly nobody from Baltimore hates the Nationals, Wizards or Capitals.

There's no hatred between the Giants and A's though. I knew some people from the Bay Area who rooted for the 49ers and Oakland A's growing up and I'm sure there are a lot of Raiders/Giants fans. The only city rivalry is really between their football teams.

1969. NY Mets win the title against the Orioles. NY Jets win the title against the Colts. You say you're from Baltimore and you never heard anyone bring that up. Cuz I heard it a lot. Also, the Greatest Game Ever Played was against the Giants. Baltimore REALLY hates NYC. But, NYC doesn't notice Baltimore, which is all the more infuriating.
Most DC sports fans root for Baltimore teams. OK, Baltimoreans hate the Redskins, but I'm yet to meet a single O's fan who hates the Nats. And the Skipjacks used to be a Caps farm club, and the Bullets used to play in Baltimore. Most Baltimore sports fans root for the Wiz and Caps.

One of my good friends likes the Giants and Raiders.

Do you still live in Baltimore? Because I never hear anybody bring up losing to the Mets in the 1969 World Series? People bring up the Jets Super Bowl loss every once in a blue moon but nobody hates the Jets because of that Super Bowl loss. The only NY team we hate are the Yankees.
