Can anyone explain why there's not more "stars" or high profile players in the majors from LSU? It seems like we have talent year in and year out but no true MLB studs. I guess the same question could be asked for football too.

Smoke let the pipeline break down for a while, so the number of LSU players in the majors has ebbed temporarily, but remember that it usually takes a while for people to work their way up, so the number should rise again relatively soon.

Name me a school that does have a lot of MLB stars. The majority of the Top 50 players in MLB never stepped foot on a college campus.

ETA: Aaron Hill is a very good player and Brian Wilson is an all-star.

Because there are too many fricking foreigners in baseball. Call me racist, but it's the truth. South America needs to create their own league.

I would be interested in seeing a list of guys that were committed to LSU but got drafted high enough to not come. If these guys decided to come to LSU, the number of big time guys may be higher. I'm just assuming. Nothing to back this up.

America's game? That's what I was told it was. They should at least be citizens.

..a large portion of MLB players come straight from HS , the "high draft choices" who go into the MLB Minor League System and work their way to the Bigs. Facts are - the very best baseball players never get to college. In addition , the last decade or so , more and international players coming into the league. Just look at the rosters. Just my observations.

With Mahtook and Mitchell coming up quickly, we should have a few more up there shortly.

No, the same question could not be asked for football. LSU has the 3rd highest amount of NFL players behind USC and Cal.

Two pages and it hasn't been said: MLB hates LSU.

Because college play is not required and the best players are typically drafted out of high school.

This is easily answered. Only the best of the very best make it to profession baseballs pinnacle. College baseball is okay, but the league in the Dominican Republic and South America as well as the Minor Leagues has some incredible baseball players as well. Not to mention that many of the mega talented are drafted straight from high school. Many of the stars we see at LSU have to then navigate the Minor League system where there is a backlog of talent. Many quit to get on with their lives rather than run this gauntlet. Minor League baseball is where most college baseball stars dreams go to die.
