I think foo fighters will stand the test of time as one of the last great rock bands

Foo Fighters, Tool, RHCP it's sad all those guys are about my age or older and I'm 45.

Dave will probably go down as the last great rock multi-instrumentalist, too. Talent is such a back seat to image that it is hard to even see a future for rock.

Megahits from bands are never my favorite, but I'm gonna go with
No Doubt-Don't Speak
Kings of Leon-Sex on Fire
Black Keys-Lonely Boy

What are some recent songs (last 5-10 years) that will be around 30 years from now on classic stations?
Honestly, I can think of nothing that will.

Wonderwall for sure.

That song is from 1995. Music took a huge hit around 2002/2003.

There haven't been many good songs since then. People these days like shitty rap and autotune.

Not retarded at all. Good songs that will stand the test of time have been almost non-existant since 2000. Pop music from the 60s through the mid 90s was loaded with more high quality memorable songs that have stood the test of time. You could pick individual years during that time span that had more good memorable music than the entire 2000 to 2013 time span combined.

You know your living through a horrible era for popular music when "Poker Face" is considered one of your best memorable songs

So you like RHCP? Because Metallica's Black Album is one of the best rock albums of a generation.

you are as high as a georgia pine. good music exists, but it's not as prevalent on the radio anymore. what's popular gets played, which is perhaps the most basic rule of supply and demand, but i could give you a week's worth of songs made in the last 13 years that i'd put up there with damn near anything.

Depeche Mode - Personal Jesus

I think Enjoy the Silence will be considered the timeless song from Depeche. It has been covered by hundreds of artists from all different genre's of music plus it has a simple and stunningly beautiful video to accompany it. Just my 2 cents.
