Reid claim's to have inside information from one of Romney's partners at Bain. Only Reid knows if he really does have inside information, therefore Reid should have named the person who gave him this information if he was going make this claim. On the other hand, Romney could have destroyed Reid by simply releasing his tax returns for the years in question if it wasn't true. LINK EDIT: If Cruz had made a specific charge against Hagel, such as he has information from Hagel's accountant that he recieved $200,000 from Ayman al-Zawahiri, that would be damning and comparable to Reid's charge against Romney.

Finally, someone let loose with the damn truth. The Israelis have been destabilizing the region for quite a while, making alliances with Sunni extremists to create strife between Shia-Sunni. I do not understand why Americans can't see that the Israeli political establishment is quite astute at having their political enemies taken out by other parties or through political issues unrelated to their own internal politics. I suppose some of this is due to their relatively small population, born out of necessity.

Boxer’s analogy may have been more apt than she realized. Two and a half years ago, Cruz gave a stem-winder of a speech at a Fourth of July weekend political rally in Austin, Texas, in which he accused the Harvard Law School of harboring a dozen Communists on its faculty when he studied there. Cruz attended Harvard Law School from 1992 until 1995. His spokeswoman didn’t respond to a request to discuss the speech. Cruz made the accusation while speaking to a rapt ballroom audience during a luncheon at a conference called “Defending the American Dream,” sponsored by Americans for Prosperity, a non-profit political organization founded and funded in part by the billionaire industrialist brothers Charles and David Koch. Cruz greeted the audience jovially, but soon launched an impassioned attack on President Obama, whom he described as “the most radical” President “ever to occupy the Oval Office.” (I was covering the conference and kept the notes.) He then went on to assert that Obama, who attended Harvard Law School four years ahead of him, “would have made a perfect president of Harvard Law School.” The reason, said Cruz, was that, “There were fewer declared Republicans in the faculty when we were there than Communists! There was one Republican. But there were twelve who would say they were Marxists who believed in the Communists overthrowing the United States government.” “We are puzzled by the Senator’s assertions, as we are unaware of any basis for them,” Robb London, a spokesman for Harvard Law School, told me.

Link please? EDIT: By the way, do you know what was made up? Friends of Hamas, the group that Republicans accused Hagel of taking money from.

Ted Cruz is a modern day Robert Welch, founder of the John Birch Society. Ronald Reagan, William F. Buckley and Barry Goldwater all stood up to Welch and his fringe conspiracy theories...like saying Pres Eisenhower was a member of the Communist party. History is repeating itself and if a true leader of the GOP doesn't step up like Buckley did, the Conservative party is in real trouble. LINK LINK

Not a very good comparison IMHO, Welch wasn't an agent of a foreign government. Welch was pro American even if you disagreed with his views on Communism. Welch also was not a US Senator or public official. Had nothing to do with teh Republican party

McCain has already reprimanded Cruz once, and if he keeps it up, I'm sure there will be more prominent Republicans doing the same.

Cruz isn't an agent of a foreign government. I agree Welch was pro American but he was still a wacko. My point is that Cruz is terrible for the GOP. Especially in today's world. Like the article I linked about Buckley... He/it says... Needless to say, it is not a keen grasp of reality that distinguishes the politics of the Tea Party. The many Tea Partiers who fail to distinguish between liberalism and socialism are only repeating the errors of the Birchers, whom Buckley criticized for their “neurotic oversimplifications.” In his later years, Buckley believed that the Republican failures in Iraq stemmed from a similar tendency to engage in ideological wishful thinking instead of hard analysis. He also cautioned against the tendency of conservatives to transform the cautious insights of supply-side economics, for example, into theological certainties, and to move toward ever more narrow and rigid definitions of doctrinal acceptability. Fanaticism and obsession, he believed, ultimately represented a surrender of individual freedom. As the high priest of the conservative movement, Buckley had latitude to advance unorthodox proposals such as the legalization of marijuana without being condemned for apostasy, but he also sought similar indulgence for other conservative thinkers.
