Ah, we have Obamacare and soon Obamadaycare. Obama just cares. He needs to run "Bo knows" commercials but as "Obama cares" ads. Awesome.

The person punishing the child is the parent, go talk to them and explain it.

Because there is tons of research that shows a strong correlation between pre-K schooling and improved preformance later in academic life. This is regardless of race or socio-economic status.

What does that have to do with the original discussion? You can ask that about anything.

So Obamadaycare is something you support, eh? "preformance" is a pre-school term?

Did mandatory kindergarten improve our standardized test scores or improve our standing, relative to other western nations in math and science? (Of course not.) Does spending more money per pupil than any other country (by far - and when you did into the statistics, the more we spend - I'm looking at you Chicago and D.C. - the worse the kids do) give us anything in return for our investment? (Of course not.) What does your research say about that? All the Pre-K in the world isn't going to fix the defective and/or absent parents these kids have. Until the communities (and parents) take ownership of their kids' education, this is all just whistling past the graveyard.

Hell no. Kids spend too much time in school as it is to be honest. Children can learn from a young age, but it's sort of counterproductive (imo) of having them around a bunch of other little kids to do so. But like others have pointed out, it's glorified baby sitting, like most of our public schools.

If this is true, why would you wanna ruin it by making it universal?

my two oldest children (9 and 8) spend 1/4 to 1/3 the amount of time in school each day that public school students do. We spend 1/10 of what the govmt spends on the average public school student. Somehow, they know more about more than their peers, have way more free time and enjoy learning. The secret: They read. A lot. They are provided with good, entertaining, old, classic books and they do the rest. Books written before the concerted effort to dumb everyone down. It's really simple. It doesn't cost a lot. They enjoy it. These 3 principles are the antithesis of government run "education".
