Just got around to watch the last episode.
So, Thomas gets to stay around and get a promotion? I don't care about him trying to make a move on the footman, but holy hell, didn't everyone want to get rid of him because he was a troublemaker? Meanwhile Alfred does nothing wrong and ends up being demoted.
Stupid British.

Did you really think they were going to have a homosexual character and not have him turn out to be sympathetic?
Frankly I was shocked they allowed him to be a heavy for even a few episodes

I think this whole plot turn is spectacularly contrived. I mean Bates gets out of prison and he's back for a week and he's looking out for Thomas now? Come on. Any normal person would have had a boot on Thomas' arse (which he likely would have enjoyed) shoving his nancy scheming arse out the door.

Mr. Carson and Mr. Crawley were horrified about the ex prostitute but were sympathetic to Thomas's homosexuality?
