I know I'm in the minority but why not try him at ILB?

I'm curious to see how they'll play him, too. I could see them playing him at any of the backer positions, just a matter of where his best spot will be and where they put the other guys.

If they did put him inside, then something would have to be done with Hawthorne...could he play one of the olb spots? If he couldn't, what would they do with him. The guy's gonna be making too much money to be a backup. Could they trade him if he doesn't start?

It really is going to make for an interesting offseason seeing how all of the parts and pieces come together. Be great compared to the last two without a doubt.

continue to ignore my point that all of the top pass rushing 3-4 OLB's are only on the field to put pressure on the qb.

That might be because I think your point deserves ignoring after already being addressed (more than once I might add). You seem to confuse pass rush specialist, which I think Galette can be, with every down lb's....which I hope he can be.

By the way, you might want to research some of the complaints about how Ryan used his olb's too much in pass coverage while in Dallas. That's a little more in line with this discussion than an obsession about other team's players.

Whatever...this horse has been beat to death. Have a good day.

Yes, you addressed it by saying they drop back to cover "on occasion" lol. You ignore it because I'm right.

All of the best pass rushing 3-4 OLB's were moved there because they were pass rush specialists. That's the point of why they get moved to 3-4 OLB. That's the point of why the Saints are moving to 3-4 defense. Tez and Junior are pass rush specialists better suited to play 3-4 OLB. That's the point. Not sure how much more clear this has to be made for you.

If Ryan is coming here to turn Junior and Tez into cover guys, then we are screwed. This entire switch was made to get our 2 best pass rushers on the field since we had very little pass rush out of the 4-3.

Good grief...are you an abused child?

Do this...look at my 1st post regarding Galette on this thread then look at the second to last post you made. Your post of which I'm referring is your only one in response to mine with an actual rebuttal. And it was pretty kumbaya'ish in an "oh well, I'm sure he can do it, can't be much to it" sort of way.

You obviously think if the guy can put pressure on the quarterback that makes him a good 3 down player in the NFL, even if he can't do anything else. You're wrong.

Now, did I make that clear enough for you?

1) B. Bunkley-Nose Guard- typical size for a 3-4 nose guard and has experience from his denver playing days and anyone with experience can help this transition.
I don't know if it's been said, but he wasn't a nose tackle with Denver. He played for Denver in John Fox's first season as head coach, which is the same year we went back to a 43 defense.

Thank you There have been a few people coming on here claiming he was a nose tackle during his time in Denver.

I thought he was kind of misused in our defense this past year. He was easily our best run stuffer but he didn't exactly get a lot of snaps. Most of the time when our defense was getting gashed in the run game, they were in a nickel or dime defense and Bunkley wasn't in there in those packages.

No problem, I came over as soon as I was unbanned. I had been reading numerous posts of him being a nose tackle and that simply wasn't true. He was a regular defensive tackle in John Fox's 43 scheme. I can see where some thought he was a nose tackle, though. Some view Von Miller as a 34 outside linebacker because he typically rushes every 3rd down.

Brodrick Bunkley is a very disruptive player, though. I was surprised we couldn't keep him in Denver. I have no clue how he'll fit in the 34 defense. He might be a good fit at one of the defensive end positions vs the nose tackle. He's athletic.

he made a big play that kept the Saints in the game against Green Bay last year. The Packers were down on the goal line and Bunkley drove his man so hard off the line that the lineman ran into Aaron Rodgers who then wasn't able to make a clean handoff. The Packers fumbled and the Saints recovered.

when we played the 49ers, they left Bunkley in there a little more based on the types of formations the 49ers liked to run. I thought he had a good game there too. Frank Gore only had like 80 yards that game and the 49ers running attack certainly wasn't the reason they won that game believe it or not. I've seen Gore do a lot worse on other defenses or at least as much as he did that day to the Saints.

the Bunkley fit at NT is one of the hardest to figure for me. He isn't prototypical and it isn't his history. If no then more bodies will be needed even if ya drafted one at #15. It is a pretty deep DT class. Lotulelei, Hankins, and Jenkins all look like 1st Rd NT potential.

yeah I hear you. Its weird, just a few years ago we had a guy who would be a perfect nose tackle in a 3-4 in Aubrayo Franklin but we didn't run the type of defense that he was really the best at (not enough anyway). Then the fricker goes to the Chargers and has a good season but ends up getting hurt.

then we bring in Bunkley this past year but he doesn't play as much as you would think... dammit.

what a gift that would be if Lotulelei fell to us.. I don't know about the Jenkins guy from UGA. Kind of reminds me of Jon Sullivan... okay that wasn't fair to say. But still.

Yeah, thanks for coming clear that up for people on this board

This is exactly what I've been saying. This us why people are confused. They don't realize that Miller plays as a normal 4-3 OLB, then moves to DE in passing situations. By the way, this makes the amount of sacks he gets even more incredible.

I actually think 3-4 NT's can be more dominant in a 4-3. The Ravens did it back when they had Siragusa and I think Sam Adams. The problem with the Saints, and the reason their d-line looks so bad against the run, is because the OLB's have been embarrassingly bad players who shouldn't even be in the league, let alone starting games. If you noticed last year, once Hawthorne came back and Vilma was playing, the run defense and overall defense got much better.

oh yeah, I know what you mean, the lack of speed from the outside backers really hurt the Saints early on in the year.

they had a few games where they stopped the run pretty well towards the end of the year. When they shut out the Bucs and in the win over the Cowboys. But in the season finale against Carolina, we got gashed again. The Panthers averaged like 7 yards per carry that game
