My wife just had hers taken off a couple weeks ago. I paid $4500 total. Insurance didn't cover braces. This in included all appointments and adjustments. She gets her retainer next week.

You might be correct but my kids got their braces on in February and their first followup visit was in May. I found this odd because it seemed all their friends with braces were going once a month for adjustments. My kid's appointments were spaced out for every 4 months.
Like I stated, their teeth were pretty straight but I was told they had a small overbite that needed to be correct. Since I couldn't really tell a differnce once they came off, I don't think they really needed them in the first place but that is just my opinion.
