Watching Hunt for Red October......Question bout Ryan

Who was the better Jack Ryan? A young, thin Baldwin or Harrison Ford?
Ben doesn't count.
It's been awhile since I saw HFRO, and young Baldwin actually is pretty good IMO.

I liked Baldwin. Maybe just because he was the first. I read almost all the Ryan books and I didn't remember him being the boy scout that Ford made him out to be.
That was when I was in middle school though. So maybe I just can't remember.

he was great in Red October, but ive seen the Ford movies way too many times to think of Baldwin as the best jack ryan.
cant really picture Alec doing it better than Harrison in Patriot Games.

Both worked well within the context of each movie, though I preferred Baldwin. Would've been great if they had made Cardinal of the Kremlin after HFRO.

Yea, I think so to. At the time of HFRO, Ryan was still young. Even through the Patriot Games he was still a young buck. Baldwin seems more legit in the role.
Baldwin missed a great oppurtunity. He could have been like Bourne, running off the Clancy books. What a shame.
