I saved pretty easily up til around 30k. Now it seems like every time I get hit it's with 2 lightning strikes for 500-1000 DE. I'm at 36K now, hoping I can manage 40K by tonight but doubtful.

Raid for it and surge their DE storage/mines only target those with 500+ you just may lose trophies

Ya that's what I do the issue is most only have 100-200 DE that I can raid. So I'm netting like -500. Let me post a pic of what I just had attack me.
Here are 3 attacks in a row and the 4th which is cut off was for 350 DE, so annoying.

people do it to me, but they usually only get 75-100 DE
what lvl is ur DE storage? I know they beefed up the hitpoints to help combat ppl doing this. I upgraded mine to lvl 4 just for that reason.

I would max everything out before going to TH9
i've heard its harder to gold/elixir in big chunks like you can at th8
you might as well make all walls purple, go to lvl 6 air support and lvl 6 tesla while you can easily get gold
Also, i can't see what spells have been fully upgraded....but i would upgrade all those as well

Best defense I can find against it is to play with your trophy count and try to get to a number where people don't attack with lightning strikes. That's all I got

I'm stalling out at 2150 trophies, seems I can't find enough winnable bases with my current set up and those I do I don't make enough elixir to cover my troop cost or gold to make it worth it

it seems pointless to go for trophies unless you have a maxed out th8 or 9 and you don't NEED gold or elixir.
Ill stay around 1100-1300 trophies till im maxed out th9. By then there will be a th 11
