Just think of the potential marketing. Morning eagle shoot, then afternoon black bear hunt.

I live on Poverty Point Lake in Delhi, La. we see a pair of eagles a lot on the northeast part of the lake. The state park rangers say there are three nest around the lake. Last week my wife watched an eagle trying to pick off a diving duck,(grebe?). She couldn't get a pic because it was too far away from our yard but watched it through binoculars. She said the eagle would swoop down and just before it could nail the duck, the duck would dive. She watched it for about 5 tries before the eagle got frustrated and went after easier prey. I have watched an osprey nail nice fish there also, pretty cool!

I've seen that behavior involving coots.

You can even catch up to those little things with 6 shot. Try it, it's impossible to kill one, or so I hear

I almost hit one sitting roadside on Highway 90 near Waveland, MS a few years back. I'd never seen one that close before... it was huge.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it was a grebe, but there are tons of poule d'eau there too. She said it was smaller than a coot though. I wish I'd seen it. That had to be something to see. I was showing one of my grandaughters an eagle in a tree one day. She was using the Binos and got a great view of the eagle gliding out of a tall tree and hitting something on the water. I watched it lift off with something we thought was a snake, but turned out to be a limb about 5' long. The eagle dropped it on dry ground. I don't know if it did this intentionally for nesting material or mistakenly thought it had one of the pretty big diamond back water snakes found there.

Last year saw on swoop down a catch a shad out of the lake, he went in the pasture and landed. We trolled over to get a closer look and he looked like an ostrich standing in the field. I have since named him Randall. Why? I have no idea.

LOL... Why NOT Randall??? I hadn't thought to name the ones we see. I'll have to give that some thought!I mean special critters that they are, they need special names.

We watched one while sailing that was sitting in a huge old pine tree watching the water till he spotted a fish that was probably a 1/4 mile from him. He soared down out of the tree and came in low across the water so it couldn't see him. He apparently was behind it because he'd jink left or right a little bit to stay lined up without really beating his wings. Just a stealth bomber swooping down the lake at like three feet above it. When he got to it he didn't even slow down, he just reached in and snatched out a 2 lb bass like it was nothing then beat his way back to that tree and ate it. Was cool as hell.
