We need a more progessive Pope, my main issue is to allow Priests to get married; it is a Sacrament, just like Holy Orders, why can't they do both? Think of how much better Priests could relate to families and family isues? I also think it is time for an African or South American Pope!!

Being a priest is a 24/7 job. The family of a married priest would suffer. They have weddings, baptisms, funerals, daily mass, and many on weekends, visit the sick, shut-ins, nursing homes, then they may have duties at the Diocesan Office.
They are supposed to pray the Holy Hours 5 times a day, plus the rosary. This could be done with a family; however, a priest "marries" the church, and we can only have one wife.
A priest learns about family life by being born in a family. I know some priests that know far more about love than any married man I know. They learn how to love by the witnessing of their parents. Your children will learn how to love by the way you and your wife love each other.
Bottom line is: Love is a sacrifice. If one is not ready to make sacrifices and die to ones self, then one is not ready to be a priest or be married. Spousal love commands sacrifice. A priest is a spouse to his bride the church, and a man is spouse to his bride, neither is allowed to have multiple spouses.
There are rare and special circumstances in which a married man is allowed to be a priest, but these men are ones that converted to catholicism and were already an Anglican priest (or other type priest, if one is a leader in another denominatin they are not automatically allowed to continue. It depends on the denomination).
God does not look at nationality to determine who shall be pope. The right one for the times will be selected. It's up to that individual be the pope God intends them to be.
