I carry my XDm with me every trip after I walked about 10 yards away from a group of 16 hogs at 5:30 am, armed with a 5 shot .270wsm and no moon.
I turned, ran back down the trail as fast as I could, dove off into the woods and took a shite. It literally scared that shite out of me.

I was in NWLA North Caddo Parish. It was last year, strolling along and my flashlight hit a hog, so shined to the right and saw the HUGE group, hauled arse. They were all up in the corn, waited until daylight to go all the way in, pulled camera card and that's when I counted the 16.

Always carry my XD45, fully loaded and chambered in case I come accros hogs on the way to my stand.

always carry.. .41 mag, in la during gun season, it's legal....
Have taken a handful of deer with the .41

I think most people I know carry a .357 or .44 mag when hunting.

I do sometimes but never got to shoot a deer with it yet. Always take it when checking hog traps.

A few different rugers come with scope rings.
I think some smith pro centers also do, but don't quote me on that.

I carry a 9mm when I'm bowhunting with the exception of bow season I don't carry at all (think I can only have a 22 rat shot during bow season). If I am rifle hunting I don't carry. I mainly carry bc I have been chased by a hog dove hunting. I stumbled upon an upset sal and she charged me. Luckily I ran along the tree line and she ran out into the soybean field after coming after me for about 15 yards. I have also had friends that have had bobcats sneak up on them or even follow them down the trail.

So you bow hunt when it isn't bow season?

I think he means he bow hunts all year, and when legal he carries the 9 mil.
