I'm sure he will be surprised when I tell him that I took him. I've been giving him a hard time, for a long time.

He's a great athlete though. Can do just about everything. . Hopefully he takes it to the next level and makes a good impact for TCU. I'll be rooting for them (him and a friend of mine who coaches for TCU, except when they play LSU)

That's awesome though. I love it when someone you know plays big-time college football. It makes you get into it that much more. Although I've noticed that you tend to blame their shortcomings on everyone else but them haha. I want to pick 3 of those guys with my supplemental picks, but I'll probably just settle for 1 of them.

Yeah, definitely.
That's actually how I became an LSU fan, I had a couple cousins play in the early 2000's and a couple of my buddies that graduated in my class ('08). Even though I grew up most of my life in BR, I grew up a Tennessee fan, even though I came from an LSU family(except for one of my grandmothers who is a Nick Saban loyalist, because when he was recruiting one of my cousins, he came to chill at her house a couple houses down from my cousins, so I can't talk long with her about football... )

I'll root for TCU though when they're not playing LSU though.

I agree.

It is an extra step that sometimes gets overlooked. This is about the 10th time.

Do you mean the QB of a near winless HS team that was one of only 14 in his class? I was wondering the same thing. He will certainly be a supp pick.

Johnathan Howard
HT: 6'5
WT: 193
College: Fake Classes/Who loved theatre the 5th time U

Larry Fedora said Howard is starting opposite their other WR (6-4 stud Quinshad Davis) and calls them the twin towers. fedora has done nothing but rave about Howard and he's starting from day 1, I'll take that here and I love how well he fits in their system, and him starting opposite their stud soon to he sophomore who demands double teams gives Howard lots of 1-1 and Howard will win that every time. He finished with 1600+ yards his senior season the fourth most ever in GA HS history.

But Memphis if he's so great why is still available? Wouldn't Verlander have found him by now?

Oh I'll tell you audience. He's not from the Midwest, and he's not a DB so Verlander took him off his board.

But he would've been a top notch WR if he competed in recruiting camps last spring but he was playing AAU.

Quotes from his coach:

quote:

“First of all, he’s a legitimate 6-5. I’ve seen different heights, but I’ve measured him barefooted, and that’s what he is. He is probably the smartest football player I’ve coached on the field, and not just in games, but in practice, too. In 2009, when we won the state championship his freshman year, we probably wouldn’t have been there without him. Even then, he was the coolest kid we had on the team under pressure. He made some big plays for us in that playoff run.

“He’s the easiest kid to deal with. He’s such a pleasant family kid, one that takes his academics seriously. He’s probably 3.1, 3.2 core GPA right now. You don’t have to push him.

In three games, he’s already had two 200-plus yard receiving games, and the one he didn’t, our quarterback didn’t play. I expect more big games for him.

He has great hands, good speed and good ball skills. And he’s a guy who’s started on both sides of the ball since his freshman year. He plays every down. We don’t have the depth at receiver we’ve had in the past, so he doesn’t get a lot of plays off. He’s a safety, and at times, he’s played some corner when we need man coverage on a tall receiver. Plus he returns punts and kickoffs for us.

Yeah he did it all for his team and was a leader, he's got a high football IQ and smart kid in the classroom (even though that doesn't matter at UNC)

quote:

“He needs to put some weight on, put some muscle on, because he’s going to go against more physical DBs that he’s not going to be used to going up against. If he’s going to play early, that’s one thing he’s going to have to get on quick. He’d like to add some weight, but when he gets there, they will help take care of that. “He’d love to have the chance to play early, and I feel confident he’ll be able to pick up a college-level offense really quick. He’s really a student of the game. He has game speed when he needs it, and that shows up in some of his clips. In the Dooly County game two weeks ago – our last game – there was a lot of possession-type stuff, and he had double- and triple-coverage sometimes. And then he showed his speed on one out-and-up we ran. When he concentrates on one sport, I think he has great potential.

Now that he's focusing on football only now he's going to have a Sammy Watkins type impact

He's definitely a red zone threat I love the way he uses his body before and after the catch. His hands are another thing I really like, If the ball is near him, he's going to come up with it, even in traffic or with a guy on his back.

Recommend watching

Howard gives me the best WR coup out of all y'all
