Was there another "lesser" store nearby that lost business?
The smaller, family owned stores that dropped out of existence in the Lafayette area were put out of business by Wal Mart. Rouse's Laffy pulls in customers from the surrounding Lafayette area that want to shop in a better grocery store than Wal Mart but don't have the option. The Lafayette Rouse's location is well positioned to serve customers coming in from Ambassador Caffery yet stearing clear of the congestion at Kaliste Saloom and Ambassador, and those coming in from I-10 at University via Congress. Serves the Lafayette area from I-10 West and I-10 East and it's right across Betrand Drive from the CajunDome. Great location.

Educate me- does Rouses have a pharmacy? If so, any idea what the pharmacists salaries are?

It is interesting because to border that three roads you would think it would have to consist of more than 35 acres. They did clear out a ton of land where Plantech was and that goes all the way through to Old Jeff. There is a development underway at Old Jeff and Barringer, but it looks more like houses. Also they were doing a lot of surveying on airline just south of Barringer within the last two months.

Is it the area where a new subdivision is being built off Beringer-Foreman at Jefferson Hwy? Sort of across from Woodlawn HS, backing towards Airline? Is the plan to have that neighborhood back all the way to Airline with a business area (anchored by Rouse's) at that end? If so, cool plan. And here's to building some houses in that subdivision that don't have yards. I hate zero lot lines and looking out a side window and seeing your neighbor's wall.
