Rouses Market has a purchase agreement with Long Farm developer Russell Mosely for five acres in the mixed-use development and is planning to open a 55,000-square-foot supermarket fronting Airline Highway in 2014.
Mosely said Rouses will be the anchor for the 35-acre retail portion of the development, which is on 237 acres of farmland bounded by Barringer Foreman Road, Jefferson Highway and Airline Highway. The property was once owned by Mosely’s grandfather, former U.S. Sen. Russell Long.
Donny Rouse, managing partner of Rouses, said he is not ready to comment on the deal. He said the Louisiana-based grocery store chain is still looking at putting three stores in the Baton Rouge market.

Interesting. Not too far from the new Alexander's Market.
A Rouse's will help bolster that development.

So long Calandro's,
Good night Matherne's,
Good bye Ralph's.
But seriously, I'll have moved out of Baton Rouge by the time they build one here.
And I-10 still won't be done.

Is this part of the development that you can see being developed at Jefferson/Barringer? I wonder if it will peek through where the driving range/Plantech were or if there is a whole new development.

I have been to Rouses, don't see how they will shut down the ones you have mentioned.
