I would advise getting a semi auto .45. Does some real damage to anything it hits. And if a big pack of hogs roll up on you, you won't be stuck with 5 or six bullets with a wheel gun.

i recommend a glock 40 cal. This is the caliber most law enforcement uses. i have the glock 23 which is medium size gun and still capable of conceal carry as you said your intentions were. You can add to the handle attachments to make it fit your hand. Also with a 40 cal. you can change the barrels to a 9mm or 357 for around $125.00 and another $30 for a magazine.

I'd recommend a Semi Auto .40 or .45. You can't go wrong with the versatility and ammo capacities. Try the Glock, Beretta pX4 storm, and maybe a few others that you think you'd enjoy the most. The Beretta PX4 storm .40 cal has a model that holds up to 14 rounds i believe.

The thing with all the APCs other than 10mm is they really lack the penetration of the revolver calibers, and you definitely want penetration with pigs. Preferably a whole lot of it. I'd say the .45 is probably one of the worse choices out there. It's slow as hell and unless you're shooting FMJ or hardcast, you're not going to get what you need out of it to roll a 150lb porkchop.

would a 9mm get more penetration than a .45 cal?

A heavy FMJ +p load would. .45acp just doesn't have the velocity you need for pushing lead through a pig.

Exactly, if you read this board you would think that hogs are almost mythical animals. Armor plated and fire breathing with a desire for human blood. Maybe St. George didn't kill a dragon, maybe it was just a wild hog.

If you had time to put it exactly where it needs to be than it would be great. Executing something and just shooting it to death require two very different pieces of equipment though.
