True. The OOC games are going to be a lot tougher starting in 2014 so we will have that for the SOS. Plus, honestly the B1G is going to have a couple of other solid teams. Michigan is getting better with their recruiting and one or two of Nebraska, Wisconsin or MSU should be solid. I'd add Penn State but I think they are about to sink into the abyss with the limitations they face for the next four years.

I don't really care if the rest of the B1G sucks as long as Ohio State is elite

thing that sucks (potentially) for Ohio State is the negative B1G perception. lose one game, go 11-1, and you are facing the possibility of getting left out of the 4 team playoff; the margin of error is slim to none.

3 years. They already started serving the bowl ban and I believe the scholarship limitation already started as well. They still had a decent class this year even with all the negative pub.

Hackenburg and a few others propped up that class. Look at the offer list of most of the other Penn State recruits. When New Mexico is your biggest competition for a recruit you're in trouble.

That's why they're beefing the frick up on the OOC schedule. Only BCS schools by 2017 I think? I like it.

Very true. Smith does a lot of dumb shite but he gets it right a lot of times too.

They'll be fine. It's not like the Big Ten is deep now anyways. It's a 3 team race, then 2-3 decent programs, and the rest are laughable.

The scholarship reductions start with this upcoming season. They already had their class in place for 2012-2013 season. The scholarship reduction and limitations are in effect for Penn State through the 2017 season. That's 5 more years of scholarship reductions for them. The program will be in shambles by then.

quote:

Penn State received a four-year bowl ban, significant scholarship reductions through the 2017 season and five years probation. It also must pay a $60 million fine and vacate all victories since 1998, when the first allegations surfaced against former assistant coach Jerry Sandusky. The vacated wins bump former coach Joe Paterno from the top spot on the Division I all-time coaching victories list. The Big Ten also stripped Penn State of its bowl revenue, estimated to be around $13 million, for the next four seasons.

Im glad OSU is beefing up their OOC schedules. You guys have been bragging ever since the internet was created about playing one good OOC team every year. At least now, we can have a OOC team put you out of the running early instead of watching you guys waste spots in title games or other BCS games. We surely know that the B10 and MAC schools werent going to put you out of the running. Meyer will probably be gone by 2017 anyhow.

Jesus, you're an idiot with these posts. There isn't an objective bone in your body when it comes to Ohio State.

BTW, having more wins than any other team in the history of the BCS sure is "wasting spots".

You guys were good up until 2005 in BCS games. That was quite awhile ago. Since then you have wasted spots. You are 1-3 and had one game vacated. So, you have wasted 4 BCS spots since 2006. You guys are like VT and Choklahoma, wasting spots.

You realize football is a zero sum game right? Some body wins, some body loses. so to say the loser of big games is wasting a spot is an extreme logic fail.

I read on the Rivals board this is the first time since Rivals began keeping recruiting rankings in 2002 that Texas or Oklahoma failed to sign a single five star athlete in a given class.

The whole Big12 didn't sign a 5* guy.

Pretty unreal.

H-town
They wouldnt of been there if they played a legit schedule. Other teams that were better were probably left out because of OSU playing patsies and having a good record. Just like in 07 when OSU didnt beat any top 20 teams and went to the title game while LSU played like 7 or 8 teams ranked in the top 20. OSU did it again recently where they didnt play a top 20 team all year. Just cuz they go 11-1,12-0, whatever doesnt make them a top team.

Actually 3 or 4 years since 07, OSU hasnt beat a team that finished in the top 20. So hows that prove that they were a good team or deserved an automatic spot? This fact shows how laughable OSU's schedule and big wins are.
