Even though RN's recruiting drama was just that (he always knew he would play with his bro, because momma said so), it wouldn't have been interesting just doing that.

In a strange sort of way, LSU milked him a lot more than RN milked us. We had NOTHING to lose, and I think a lot of other prospects were impressed that he got the Shaq treatment. We got a lot of pub on that one.

And to boot, RN announced so early that it allowed Bower to probably make his mind up. If RN had announced at noon, Bower may very well have been a Gator by then.

Another bit of lagniappe for RN to OM, it allows us to crack that northeastern market with the LSU brand (with Bower)

For RN, he's 3 and done in Oxford. Also, at least this year, teams will just run away from him and attack the weaker part of the OM defense. At LSU, he would have probably seen more action with a more complete defense.

I think in the end, RN knew LSU was the better landing spot for him, considering the NFL Draft alone and Brick, but most of the time, what momma wants, momma gets......

Great class for the Tigers 2013!

Not possible. He'd be 3 and done. He was in high school this year.

This is 100% the case here.

There was an article in the AJC a few months back with an interview with his mom. She couldn't have come off more selfish.

Aside from getting a good prospect, this is what stands out to me. LSU pulling guys from NJ, CA, IL, etc. is great for the program. All it takes is some exposure in those areas, because once we get guys down to campus, it's hard to turn LSU down.

sorry for the typo, what I meant was that in Oxford, he's the starter no matter what. Here, he would still have to earn it, even though he would have probably also started from day one.

I will find it amusing if OM goes after a LB better than his bro next year, what if Denzel gets benched?

Not really.

Do you see anyone here freaking out or complaining about RN? We all knew he was OM bound in all likelyhood, but it would've been silly to discount him completely given his talent level.

I just think it was a lot of guys that wanted to sound like the smartest guy in the room when it came to RN. We all knew he was a long shot.

Glad we got Bower. Let RN have a nice career at ole piss. Win nothing of significance and cash in as a NFL player.

AGREE Going forward, if LSU is in the final running for the #1 player in the country, I'm totally for that, even if we don't get him.

Agree with OP that RN's LOI to OM allowed Bower the clarification in his mind to commit to LSU.
