I am not pro or con on him at this point.

I really dont know his style over the years. I know the Ravens story, but I also know that Pro Football is a fickle game.

So why Cameron and not one of the hot young spread guru's ?

Serious Thoughts ?

Because he is proven to have a good offensive mind at both the collegiate level and the professional level. He has shown he has the ability to work with and develop QBs at both the pro and collegiate level. He is a major upgrade and is homerun hire for LSU.

Our nemesis, Alabama, doesn't run the spread and they have won 3 of the last 4 NCs.

Because he is the only one willing to work for Miles since he knows him...he is very conservative and old school...won't try that "colleage offense crap"...he'll keep it with the ground and pound and 8 yard curls

There's a huge thread, but
He has ties to Miles both were Grad Assisstants at Michigan
He runs a pro-style offense which is our MO. Why change our whole identity when we don't even have the talent to run a spread offense?
Cameron is only 50, he's not old.
And he has NFL experience as an offensive coordinator for 10 years and was even an NFL head coach and a college coach. The teams that he was a coordinator for have a 60% winning percentage in the NFL and have finished in the top half of the nfl every year besides his first.
He's the perfect fit.

CLM can't manage the offense
Krag can only do so much due to his illness
Stud is OL Coach and nothing more at the SEC level.

A) We don't run the spread offense
B) We don't need to run the spread offense to win
C) CC has 10+ years as an OC and was very successful at San Diego. He also played a role in developing Brees while there.

It'd be a huge upgrade for LSU seeing as how Stud is nothing more than a position coach.

Spread is for teams with lesser talent. Big boys play smash mouth. Plus, Les greatly respects Cam and will let him do his thing without interference. I have my finger's crossed for Cameron. It would be a Chavis like hire.

I was listening to the radio this morning and someone put it perfectly: Les needs someone that keeps the offense as autonomous as Chavis keeps the defense. Cam Cameron just plain fits that need and our style of offense.

In my opinion, the answer is two-fold:

1) Cameron is a very good offensive coordinator

2) Miles is much less likely to micro-manage the offense if he hires a long time friend that has a great track record. There are many good young OCs out there, but Cameron may be the only candidate that Miles would actually defer to with the offense.

I hope the rumors are true.

I heard there was a HUGE potato salad debacle at the last BBQ...Miles sent for Cam's receipe and it won hands down! Stud was bumped back down to handling the beans...

I'm amazed by the stupidity of some of our fans. Well, maybe not that amazed. Cam Cameron is one of the winningest OCs in nfl history. 60% is insanely good in the nfl. He credited as having a major roll in developing both Drew Bress and Joe Flacco and you idiots think this would be a bad hire? This would be a huge hire and would give LSU not just one of the best college OCs, but one of the best OCs in all of football.
