what is this?
Something that Houston does to ensure that other teams don't match when they grossly overpay for mediocre restricted free agents.

Poison Pills what is this?
It's how the Rockets got Asik and Jeremy Lin this offseason. I don't remember the exact numbers but for both players they offered basically 3 years $24 million. Since both were 2nd round picks or undrafted players with only a few years in the league, their teams could match the deal, BUT 1) The deal has to be priced at the MLE for the first 2 years but can escalate after that 2) For the home team the cap hit is the deal as structured. 3) For the poaching team the cap hit is the average of the deal. So the home team would have had cap hits something like $5/$5/$14 while the Rockets cap hit would be $8/$8/$8 In theory this helps the home team, they only need the MLE available to keep their player and it forces the poaching team to have cap space rather than just the MLE to make an offer. In practice we see it actually makes it harder for the home team to keep a player and easier for the poaching team to acquire a player because once that contract escalates the home team is stuck paying max salary for a mid level player.

Michael McNamara ?@McNamara247 Just told by very credible source that Bucks are now more open 2 moving B. Jennings than ever before. Gauging the league for possible offers
I know lots of people don't consider McNamara very credible, but Jennings hired this agent specifically to rattle the cage so Milwaukee doing a value check isn't all that surprising. MM really wants him some Jennings though

My max offer would be: Vasquez, Lopez, and 2014 1st for Jennings and Dalembert. Take it or leave it Milwaukee
Way too much. If that's what it takes now I'd wait to try and get him cheaper via S&T in the offseason.

I don't want to give up any picks in next years draft especially if it's supposed to be deep. Maybe this years draft though if it has some type of protection on it.

40% ball dominant point guard. and expensive...no thanks ...it would be making a move just to make a move, imo

Yep. Would much rather keep Vasquez and spend the ~$10m we would save not extending Jennings on building a deep roster with competent players. Replacements like: Roberts --> Mo Williams Aminu --> Corey Brewer Lance Thomas --> Aminu Rivers --> Brandon Rush or maybe a "splash" bench player like KMart for 2 years + keeping Vasquez and Lopez and the pick would be a much better way to spend the money.

McNamara must not understand the art of negotiating, because that is a ludicrous offer. Especially considering that Jennings will want a huge raise. If I'm Milwaukee I can't accept that fast enough. I will say that if they can get him to sign for something like 4/$32million, I can get behind some sort of Vasquez for Jennings move- but no picks. Small markets need every pick they get. But if Jennings wants $10million+, that is a waste of money. Why not extend Vasquez for $4-$6million per year and spend the savings on a good third guard? ETA- THRILLHO

I somewhat agree, #1 option should be a superstar if one would come here. Option 2 should be filling with good bench. Players. Actually like all the players you listed.

Mo Williams would be a great fit, imo. ...would much rather keep Vasquez and get a good backup guard. then upgrade at SF and/or C through draft (hopefully), free agency, or trade, depending on whether or not we look to deal Lopez or Smith
