If we have to go with this design just make sure we go with a color which allows the hills and supports under the sign to remain visible.

If i had to guess why i would say it is because most of the people who voted for this design are the flyby lurkers of this board who only posted because it was a voting thread. They are gone now, thats why you are seeing mostly people in this thread complaining about the one that won. Just my opinion.

Except when I was counting there were just as many lurkers who voted for 2 as voted for 1.. seriously, there are just a bunch of people who ignore things that don't have to do with them, and since this doesn't say 'vote" they are ignoring.. meh.
I have an idea for colors, I just want a few ideas.

I observed this as well. I thought the same thing as GF at first and went back and scanned them and I'm not sure what defines a "lurker" but I saw many posters that I recognized voting 1 and many that I didn't voting 2 and vice versa. So let's squash that huh?

I really don't think I'd be much help here. I'm partial to shade's of blue. Not lighter shade's either. Regular blue and on up.

I understand that and that's where the case for keeping the current colors is very strong. Only solution I can give is make it a much lighter smoke black, other than that, I don't know.
There has to be a color scheme that fits this board's topic and brings out the braces and ground enough.
BTW, I just remembered your old screen name. Weren't you TheCountingTiger? Control Cop is a pretty cool name.

I would love to be involved in this thread, but my colorblindness would probably cause me to come up with some horrendous color combinations.

That could look okay with some faded lights behind the sign so the hills show up better
