I know this very well. When you've been with someone for a while it becomes harder and harder to fool them tho.

I'm working on a nice surprise for my woman when she visits me in CA next week. Her best friend is helping me out.

Wait a minute, I thought an OTer came up with this sure fire heart melting move. Wasn't there like a 20 page thread on this? Regardless, it works. Try it some time.

I was never a fan of Valentine's Day. Since I am coming up on year 3 without a significant other to celebrate it with, I just chill out with my own Valentine's Day song:

Elton John "No Valentines"

Hmmm last time he was in town, I knew he had never been to an NBA game and he loves basketball. So I got Hornets tickets and booked us a room at the Westin. He knew we were going to New Orleans but not to the game, he was really excited and surprised. Then we sat on the roof afterwards and drank wine by the pool, it was pretty nice.

The next day, we flew to Denver so he could meet my parents. I surprised him again with Nuggets tickets, so he got to go to two games in a week. Before the game, I took him to lunch at Casa Bonita, because he loves South Park. He didn't know it was a real place, and we had a blast.

Not sure how romantic that is, but I worked hard to show him a great time.

Last Valentine's Day I was out of town for drill. I hadn't spoken to my SO for almost two weeks, with Valentine's Day smack in the middle. As soon as I returned, I had reservations for us to go to dinner at her favorite restaurant and took her on a trip soon thereafter.

Let's just say that she's the woman I plan on marrying.

I've done a couple of things. Surprised my ex at the beach while she was down there. She was really bummed that I couldn't come and I ended up taking off work and driving up.

For another ex's birthday I surprised her with flowers and 50 yard line seats to the LSU game that day. For that same girl I made her a mix tape cd with songs that reminded me of her and I wrote down the reasons they did, then read it to her while we listened to it.

That's all I can think of

I tell you what I would have done. I would have done the stupid card thing Andrew Lincoln did for Keira Knightely in Love Actually. My god that woman looked amazing in that movie.

Not that I saw the movie or anything.

I bought him Suns tickets one year for V day. That same year he bought me tickets to see Romeo and Juliet at the ballet. He splurged on really nice seats and we got all dressed up to go to the ballet.

This year I'm working so I just want a well thought out card this year.
