Larry Allen is up for the hall of fame for the 1st time this year. I thought it would be cool to remember such a outstanding player.

Here he is benching 700 lbs: LINK

Here he is as a rookie running down a Saints linebacker after an int: LINK

I was in the dome when this happened. Anybody else remember being there?

John Hannah and Bruce Mathews both have issues with this statement.

Allen was the definition of BEAST. He could play every position on the line and dominate. strong as ox and fast like cheetah. what a bad arse

We're any of these guys All-Pro at 3 different positions?

No. Bruce Mathews was only a pro-bowler at guard and center.

Mathews has more all-pro nods than Allen though, as does Hannah.

Hannah is also on two all decades teams.

I think Stan made it to some Pro Bowls.

Lets be honest. Matthews made some of those All-Pro teams based on his reputation late in his career. Great player though no doubt.

Greatest lineman I ever saw was Mike Kenn. And I'm not a Falcon fan.

I will give you pro-bowl, but All-Pro?

You don't win All-Pro unless you deserve it.

If you're going to assemble the greatest o-line ever, Larry Allen will have a starting position somewhere on it.

To say that he is the greatest ever, well thats quite tough. But he is definitely top 5, if not top 3 of all-time.

Isn't it voted on just like the pro bowl is? Maybe not voted on by fans like the pro bowl but I think it's quite obvious that many players make all-pro year after year simply on reputation.

To clarify, if two players at the same position have a pretty equal year then the guy that has been named All-Pro before will get the nod over the other guy

If you're assembling the greatest O-line ever you just clone Larry Allen until you have 4 of him. Then pick the best center to anchor it.
