Sure we will have great speed in pinch runners which will be great for crucial situations, but from our consistent weekend starting lineup how many of those 9 guys do you have faith to get from second to home on a line drive single, or steal a base? I will admit that I dont know about Bergman's speed or any of the other incoming freshman.

You don't even know his name. It's Bregman.

It doesn't take plus speed to do either one of these.

That's not the only thing you don't know Lets take Nola for example. Nola is not Gausman. However, did you know Nola had better numbers than Gausman as a freshman? Did you know Nola will be a projected first rd pick next season? I don't see us skipping a beat on Friday nights. I'm not going to go through your other dumb comments, other posters are doing a good job of making you look like a fool.

My projected starters, vs Speed: Slow = 10 Average = 20 Above Average = 30 Fast = 40 Blazing fast = 50 +5 = between 2 ratings This Year: C Ty Ross - 15 1B Mason Katz - 25 2B Jacoby Jones - 40 3B Christian Ibarra - 25 SS Alex Bregman - 35 LF Raph Rhymes - 20 CF Chris Sciambra - 40 RF Mark Laird - 45 Team average - 30.625 +/- 2.5 with DH included Last Year: C Ty Ross - 15 1B Mason Katz - 25 2B Jacoby Jones - 40 3B Tyler Hanover - 25 SS Austin Nola - 20 LF Raph Rhymes - 20 CF Arby Fields - 35 RF Alex Edward - 20 Team Average: 22.5 +/- 2.5 with DH included McMullen - 35 Stevenson - 35 Moore - 25 (I am unfamiliar with McMullen's and Stevenson's speed. I've read on TD that they're both burners. Above average to fast range is where I will currently rank them until I get feedback.) DH has the potential to be someone average like Tyler Moore, all the way up to someone fast like Stevenson or McMullen. Bregman will be faster than Nola, Ibarra will be the same or faster than Hanover, DH will have the potential to be faster, Sciambra will be faster in Center field, and Laird/McMullen/Stevenson will be an upgrade at RF. The way I see it, we upgraded speed at SS, CF, RF, possibly 3B, possibly DH, while getting slower at no positions. If CPM puts another new kid in LF and puts Raph as DH the team has the potential to add a little more defensive speed. Disclaimer: These are my opinion. I don't have a list of 40 times, but I read a lot about the team. I welcome different opinions, I'm just trying to break down the team speed numerically. I will adjust based off of feedback.

Laird is definitely faster than Sciambra.

That's my complaint as well. At least google Bregman (lol bergman) speed and find a BA article or something. Come on. The harder ones to find info on are the new kids who aren't highly touted, but Bregman has in depth writeups. It's ok to be wrong, but to not even look and then spout definitive statements is a bit brash.

Fixed. Adding guesstimates for McMullen and Stevenson.

I'd switch Rhymes and Katz too. No way Rhymes is faster than Katz . I love Rhymes, but he is slow as molasses.

Fixed. The way I see it, there is about a 6-12 point difference in average team speed (depending on DH). Verbally, an increase from average speed, to above average speed. We certainly won't be burners, but hopefully the number of double plays we hit into can be reduced significantly by a few better hitters, and a little more speed. If we hit into half as many, or even two thirds as many double plays as last season, we can see a noticeable increase in run production.

I included that to infer that I was speaking around him and the other new guys. I was not making assumptions about their speed but rather the returnees. Also I thought we would have Katz in RF again and Moore at 1B who would obviously be much slower than Laird

This. We also seemed to strike out alot with runners in scoring position. If the team hits their stride at the right time then they will definitely have a chance to make it to Omaha and compete. Their was a point in the year last year when Arby Fields was on fire and I thought we were unbeatable.. I still think we are a top 15 team but I think there are too many question marks going into the season to expect Omaha. That is my point

Last year we had a 1 or 2 weeks where Gausman, Eades, and Nola were all dealing. Cotton, was tearing it up, Joey B was tearing it up, and Goody was consistently going 3 up 3 down. Katz was hitting for power, Nola was being clutch, and Rhymes was hitting over .500. Even Hanover was getting clutch hits, and Jacoby was working the count. That is when I thought we were unbeatable. The problem was, Eades and Nola's arms wore out, Rhymes cut his hair, Nola lost a little consistency at the plate, and Katz continued to be the power, but struggled vs really good pitching, Jacoby lost his patience, and Hanover lost his consistency. I still thought we were going to beat Stony Brook. The back to back to back home runs in the first game were one of the best moments in sports I've seen in person. 2 outs, full count, HR. Still 2 outs, 2 strikes, Home RUN!, then 1 more home run for good measure. That game was awesome. Thank you Jacoby Jones, Tyler Moore, and Mason Katz twice (1 HR, then another RBI).
