How to annotate your last job on your resume if you left under strenuous conditions?? Basically was asked to do something I felt was unethical and borderline illegal (very grey line). Was given ultimatum, I left.

You don't need to put the reason you left a job on your resume. Put the time you ended your job. An interviewer probably won't ask you, "Why did you leave your last job?" If they wanted to know you could provide some detail face to face.

I'd leave ethical dilemmas out of your resume as it could give the impression that you look for trouble or tend to find yourself in shaky ethical territories.
You left the job voluntarily, the details dont matter.

Many years ago I was in this situation myself and simply did what the others have recommended here. The subject didn't come up in the interview, but if it had I would have described what happened.
For professional jobs it is pretty rare to check previous employers. Even if you left on good terms they have better things to do than answer such a request unless you asked your boss to be a reference, and if they slam you they can get sued.
