S. Sherwood Forest location now for sale to satisfy existing debt with Whitney Bank .. Could eventually impact Stroube's downtown since ownership is claiming Capital City's cash flow is what kept Stroube's open in its first three years ..

I went to the CCG on Sherwood a few months ago and you could tell it was going down the drain. It was dirty, dusty, out of date, and the food was cold. It was nothing compared to the one downtown.

Maybe they should have tried this little gimmick called "advertising." I swear I never heard of Stroube's except on this site and word of mouth.

How 'bout a billboard that says "Hey motherfrickers, we got Scott Vernedoe in the kitchen cooking that good shite"

Kige both of those. Stroube's is doing much better now, from what I gather.

I don't know how. Downtown was dead as hell last night.

walked by capital city grill (downtown) the other night, was a thursday i think, and they only had 1 table around 8 pm.

I know they do a bang up lunch biz, but having dead nights like that can drain cash quick.

I'm sure some nights are but they are doing a pretty good lunch business and have been packed the last several times we've gone for dinner.

When has anyone in BTR advertised about who their chef was? Never understood it but for some reason the owners get all the notoriety here.

If anyplace has advertised its chef it was Stroubes though but I mainly know about him from here not an ad as well.

Yeah, but how much of Stroube's doing better is a result of efforts to drive more people into the downtown area, Politiceaux? i like the food at Stroube's .. but, as Gary says, the only reason people even know about it is that they are downtown anyway or they read forums like this .. you never see any advertising for them or CCG .. ever .. and i know the rent is as high as a camel's twat at both of their downtown locations ... the building CCG is in has not been maintained well over the years and is in need of some repairs and renovations .. it is also in a spot on Sherwood that gets really really bad traffic during afternoon rush ... it looks to me like Whitney Bank is about to get a building to sell on Sherwood ..

Hopefully a lot of it. Baton Rouge needs a vibrant downtown.

I agree. More advertising needs to be done.

I don't know how a place like Little Village stays afloat. The price point far exceeds the quality of service and food they put out.

Few nice places to eat downtown, unfortunately. I agree. Incredible discrepancy between quality of food and service and cost there.

La Creole throws out Ryan Andre's name pretty often.

Most of these restaurants do advertise in magazines, but they don't get much respect on here.

Stroube's has been running ads during afternoon drive time on WJBO's Michael Berry show. Even mentioned the chef's name. No lack of spending there!

Legit place with good food. I support it every chance I have.

Ruffino's, great location and seemingly has a great thing going. Their food is delish although not as consistent as it should be for all the props they get....My question. Is Ruffin making some serious $$$ for himself with all that biz?

well, if you believe ownership's side of the story in the advocate article, stroube's dragged CCG into the ground to the point where it is finished and they have no choice left but to put their eggs in the stroube's basket to survive ... i wish them the best .. i hate to see any business in BR struggle ..

Agreed, especially a local place struggling to get by. I'd hate to see them fail and a chain move into downtown.
