re: Fat people health problems

for people to actually change their life style it takes a change of heart. I actually met someone who had to go to a slaughter house to get weighed and he was over 530 pounds now he is around 200 or 300 pounds or so and is a very successful councilor. He told us a priest changed his life actually by bringing him to a pizza place (many many times) and the effect that priest had on him caused him to lose between 200-300 pounds.

it takes someone waking you up to your weight problems I guess you could say for you to lose weight.

good point but again its about lazyiness nothing else, you're explaining situatuions that people are just to lazy to get up 30 minuets or an hour or what ever earlier to make a change to their life. Not a health issue but I get up an hour earlier so I can pray in the morning it takes time to adjust to the change but it doesn't take long for me to change it.

you making it sound like its really really hard it actually isn't that hard.

But the make a big meal and portion into tupperwares still applies here

I stayed with someone for a while (can't go into dealits of what he does for personal reasons) but he would make a large portion when he has lots of time puts them into containers and through the week takes those things he made and warmed them up had some spinach with it and that worked for him. So yes its not that hard to make alot when you have time off and use that to eat the rest of the week.

I think there also might be an element of nihilism in obesity. IE, '100 years from now no one will care that I ever lived. Much less than that I was obese.'

I saw this in an extreme hoarder. He just gave up on caring whether or not he lived in a house with garbage up to the roof.

This is the other thing. At some point someone will mentally lose it if they don't get it under control early. It becomes too difficult.

Losing 30 pounds is a challenge, but it isn't that drastic. Losing 230 pounds seems insurmountable.

I lost 30 pounds and it simple took exercising more and cutting certain types of food out my diet. As far as calories go I don't think most people count their calories sometimes it's better for people to know what foods have less calories and eat those instead of freaking out over how many calories a certain type of food has. That is what worked for me. Things without wheat have less calories then thing with wheat more often then not. Drinking only water cuts down lots of calories, putting a vinaigrette on my salad instead of a think dressing has alot less calories. I couldn't tell you how many calories I eat in a day but I still lost lots of weight in a year span.

Another idea that works for me is feedback. I record my weight on the same scale every day. I've got an MS Word file on my computer. Only takes a few seconds to record it. I can tell you exactly how much I weighed on Nov. 3, 2001.

Knowing that I have to face the scale makes it easier to keep up discipline during the day.

I didn't keep track of my weight as much as you did but I do a couple times a week take my weight just don't record it.

but another important thing is to weigh yourself at the same time, if you weigh yourself at 8pm right before you go to bed and lets say you are 324 pounds, then two days later you weigh yourself when you wake up and you are 318 pounds. Man did I lose some weight, nope your weight fluctuates during the day (i don't know how many pounds) os if you really want a accurate telling of how much you have lost weigh at the same time. Best time to do it first thing in the morning after you get rid of the waste and probably right before or after you shower so you have no additional weight.

Yep. My routine is always the same. I check in to the gym at 6:30 a.m. Hit the toilet. Take a shower. Get on the same scale every day.

yes, but you are forgetting the psychology aspect of it.

call if pitiful or whatever, but "it's not fair"

do you admit that there are people who can eat anything and not gain any weight?

it becomes very disheartening....I'd imagine similar to poor students and minorities....you try and fail that which comes with ease to another....many say "frick it"..."I don't give a shit".

do you think every bad student, just isn't trying and is just lazy?

No, I do not admit that. There are kids with high metabolic rates who get into unhealthy eating and don't gain weight. When they hit 20 and don't change eating habits they get obese.
