I really wish someone who went to the scrimmage could tell us if bonvillain started and pitched against the starting lineup yesterday.

Im interested as well. We know our closer, 3rd starter seems to be the last spot up for grabs.

Honestly we could just do a process of elimination. McCune pitched Saturday and looked "ok". I seriously doubt it will be Cotton. Certainly we would have gotten wind about that. My guess would be Bonvillain.

Yep. He pitched Nola against the starting lineup on friday, Eades on Saturday, and if Bonvillain pitched against them on Sunday that's probably your opening day weekend rotation. With only one more weekend left between opening day i have a feeling PM basically knows.

Yes he did. Went three innings, First two were scoreless then gave up a run in the 3rd. Sewald started for the white team and pitched a couple of scoreless innings. LaMarche came in later and gave up a few runs. Was struggling with his control. Joey B and Berry also pitched. Not a whole lot of offense yesterday (final score was 3-1).

Just seems right that it would be Bonvillian. If that's the case, how do y'all feel?

I like it, he has good stuff. He had a few long relief appearances last season. Particularly the game against Florida he really shined and pitched extremely well.

I'm fine with it. I'm a little more concerned with lamarche closing in a tight game on opening weekend to be honest.

Depending on how well Bonvillian does, I wonder if Mainieri may eventually swap him and Eades to put a lefty between two righties.

Yea LaMarche closing seems like that's going to be the story going into opening weekend.

I kind of hope it comes to that in one of those games. I don't want a situation where our closer goes into SEC play without much experience pitching the ninth under pressure.

Laird had a nice hit thru the right side that was the hardest hit ball I've seen from him yet..... he appears to be a "slap hitter" that is just trying to put the ball in play and use his speed to get on base.

I will take that right now. We need a guy like Jankowski (Stony Brook) or Dugas (Bama) - a player who hits for a good average, is always on base, steals, scores runs and, maybe most importantly, covers a lot of ground in the OF.

I think BON-VUH-LAN will be fine on sundays. The closer situation is a concern for me.

I'm not too worried about LaMarche. He was originally at Long Beach St. which we know is a pretty good baseballs school, but had to go through Tommy John and transferred to JUCO.

If he has a fastball that has touched 97 post-TJ, I'm sure Alan Dunn can work with that.

No mention of McCune or LeMarche. It would be nice if they didnt butter up the stats.

i watched cotton give up a run. i did show up in the middle of his inning so maybe he gave up the run during situational play after he had recorded the 3rd out. who knows.

Not sure what his number was, but on Saturday I stopped by and saw some of the scrimmage and I remember seeing a guy named Yocum, and I think he was playing SS

Yeah same thing with Bonvillan yesterday. Mainieri extended the inning a couple of times. One time he had Bregman stay at the plate after Lamarche walked him and just put another runner on first.
