Maybe the defense wanted to make damn sure this year that no one would accuse the Saints of continuing the P4P bounty system ... because you gotta try to tackle that poorly.

I think the team themselves cost themselves a superbowl. It wasn't for lack of effort, just mishaps in execution. Would theyes have been there with CSP on the sidelines? Probably not most of them, but that doesn't guarantee us a super bowl either. I do think that it's made us better for the next few seasons though. What coach in the history of the game has taken a year off of football knowing they were coming back to coach the same team they left? That's 20 weeks of different points of view you just cant get with a coach on the sidelines and in the office every week. CSP has a plan and I'm anxious to see it.

and a falcons fan trolling a saints fan with inaccurate statements and a shitty attitude does what for the perception of the dirty bird fanbase? From the way reddit's opinion of the Saints has taken a 180 since the news first broke, i think we're doing ok

Continue to point fingers and cry. Continue to blame Goodell. Continue the what ifs. And fans of other teams will continue to laugh at those childlike responses.

eh, i think the saints fanbase is pretty well respected around the league for being passionate, rowdy, and loud. What fans will laugh about is having tickets available the day of a playoff game. the guy who started this thread (and posts shite like this a lot) doesn't agree with most saints fans on the bounty situation

You know you're losing the argument when this is the substance of your post.

Losing the argument? Substance of post? Are you suggesting you have not blamed Goodell for your season? Are you suggesting finger pointing is not childlike?

I take the OP as .. sure Saints fans can be mad but this team stunk. My position is blaming Goodell for your season is crazy. I honestly thought it might fuel the team to great things (that did not happen) and I'm sure many of you did too. The team made mistakes and paid a severe price. Let it go man.

it is crazy not to think that losing one of the best, well respected coaches in the NFL did not impact this team.

what mistakes were those? you realize posting the same tired shite over and over again doesn't make it correct? You brought up the "video" earlier, what evidence is there of our "mistakes" and what do you mean by "mistakes"?

I understand the disappointment, anger, even rage at the Commish, but really, with this historically awful defense, can anyone lay out a coherent argument for the 2012 Saints, intact, without NFL sanctions, as a SB contender?
The Saints have been a playoff contender the last 3 years. They were NFC south Champs in 2011 and coming off a 13 win season last year, winning 9 games in row at one point. Why wouldn't they be a SB contender, because of Tracy Porter and Robert Meachum leaving?

I blame the loss of our head coach and the enormous amount of distractions and stress it put on our team for the poor season, as well as some talent deficiencies on defense. I don't blame Goodell for the later, but I do blame him for the former, BECAUSE what he accused the Saints of doing was not backed up by the evidence that was produced. How can you levy such harsh penalties and not back up your claims? His two star witnesses had conflicting testimonies, and it's very telling that the players suspensions were completely vacated, all the while they were contending the NFL's case was rock solid. So if it's childlike to expect proof of wrong doing when my head coach and two draft picks were taking away, then call me childish. I know the details of this whole story MUCH more than you. If this is the road you wanna go down, by all means, let's take a walk. You could just say "I'm sorry, I was just talking out of my ass" and be done with it.

Equally simple is that it's done and over with and what's done is done. Time to move on. Coach Payton is back. All good now. No more excuses. Window will not be open forever.
