Just wondering if any of you, or how many, ever go through Gunbroker, or maybe a local store, just to see if there are any deals where you could buy the gun and then sell it for a profit? I was wondering if this is at all common or even feasible.

What got me thinking about it is the NHC GRP Recon I bought a couple months back now for ~2700, retail is ~31/3200 I think. Not saying I could have flipped it for that, but buying a gun just to turn around and sell it for 3-500 more would be a nice way to make some extra cash.

So, anyone pick up some extra spending money doing this? I don't really see anything wrong with it as you wouldn't be gouging prices or anything.

I think it would be extremely rare to find such a good deal that it would be feasible. Maybe flip one for 50 dollars here and there but thats about it

Pretty sure it's against ATF regs to buy a gun that you plan to sell for profit without proper licensing.

Never done guns, but I do it with fishing reels and rods. Academy had left handed revos on a big sale a while back, I bought two (not left handed) sold them both for just over the retail price of one, bought a right handed revo for myself, and had some $ left over. Someone got a good deal on two new ones, and I got a free reel. I don't do it all the time, but if I come across a good enough sale I will grab a couple of whatever...

This may be true but there are lots of guys profiteering right now. I know a fella that has flipped a few dozen polymer AR lowers in the past month and averaged $100 or more profit on each one of them. The few guns he's assembled have sold for twice what he has in them.

I'm sure a lot of people have made money, especially the past couple of months, but the last thing I'd want to do is get caught up doing something like that by the ATF..... they tend to frown upon that kinda behavior.

I have.

However I don't do it with guns. Just ammo/accessories. Flipping guns just to make a profit is illegal I think

If the ATF determines that the sale is a straw purchase, the seller can get up to 10 years in jail if convicted.

Yeah, I didn't mean I want to turn it into an enterprise or anything. Just if you see a good deal go ahead and grab it. If you're not happy with the purchase after a week or so try to sell it.

Just a thought, though. I like ways to earn extra money without having to do much as long as jail isn't involved.
