Something I can rip outta the bed of my truck and drag. Holds two grown arse men and gear possibly a deer or two as well. Estimated 600lb of men n gear.

Needs great stability as I suck at pirogue type balance for long periods of time.
I like a canoe. Not sure of brands.
Anyone have a Scanoe?

Where did you get yours?

$329.99 at Academy

Holds up to 800 lbs of people/gear

Weighs about 80 lbs and has handles for carrying.

Your welcome.

For something that light, just go get a riveted jon boat at Academy or Cabelas or Bass Pro. You can drag it around and use a motor of less than 10hp. Anything welded or fancy will be too heavy.

I saw that at academy the other day. Seems very well built.

Also, I passed by the backpacker yesterday and they had a sign that said canoe sale up front. That probably just means its normally price though.

Nucanoe maybe? Saw a guy with one and it was pretty big and sturdy

how far are you going in it? A bateau would be way more stable, but harder to paddle distances. If you were just crossing a bayou to get to a spot, bateau would be better. If paddling a ways, canoe FTW. The Canoes at Academy are not the most stable though. You need one with a flatter, wider bottom.

I have a canoe, and a damned 5.5' bed on my crew cab truck. I had to build a rack to haul it on. It sucks. I'd like to get a camper top with roof racks that will hold the canoe.

mainly used for getting me and my son or a fellow hunter from sherburne boat launch to our hunting spot. My son is a figitty 8 year old! stability is very important.

outside of that use, there is a bayou a few hundred feet from my house. we can use it to go jugging, turtle fishing, etc....

I would try to find a small, light aluminum bateau. We have one that is pushing 40 years old, and can't weigh more than 70lbs, if that. It is extremely thin aluminum, but way more stable than a canoe. It's not fun paddling it long distance, but a few hundred yeards to cross a bayou is no problem. Even the 10' alumacraft bateus from academy are heavier than our little boat. It has low sides and no flotation, but I have fished 3 men out of it in a pinch and can fish 2 men standing up out of it.

go with a small bateau. Canoe too unstable, especially with a load, and fidgety 8 y/o. Plus you can put a trolling motor on it for your other pursuits.

When I was a kid, dad got a 12' Alumacraft from Fred Parnells, with a 7.5 hp Merc. We put it in the back of the truck and carried it everywhere. Laid the motor in the boat for transport, then put it on at the launch. Fished all over the Basin in that thing. I still have it, with a 9.9 Yamahammy. Perfect for your uses.
