After watching the effort from our boys tonight, I feel like they still have a legitimate chance to do something special this year despite the 1-4 start.
Tonight, 191/200 minutes played came from 6 guys: Hickey(37), Coleman(36), O'Bryant(35, greatest effort I've EVER seen from JOB3), Morgan(32), Stringer(28), and Carmouche(23). *Only 9 total minutes from DP and Courtney.
The pace of this game generally requires extended resting periods for most teams, but not our guys.
Although they were beat soundly in every category except for turnovers, they still found enough heart and passion to pull it off. ESPN box score
Over time, shots will start to fall, the guys will continue to become more comfortable with the pace every game, and towards the end of the season, they could indeed be a legit contender for the SEC title.
Only 2 real issues I see at this point are FT% and finishing in transition. Fix those problems, and I see no other serious flaws.

I don't see the same things you are seeing BUT I do see them upsetting a team they should probably lose to, like an Ole Miss or Mizzou.

You know, we're a team that is athletic but just too small to really compete on the blocks. Further, we are a horrible free throw shooting team which kills us.

I really like this team and they're fun to watch, but I don't expect a lot this year due to those problems.

We are just a few missed shots and turnovers from being 4-1.

This team can't shoot, period. No matter what else you do in the game of basketball, if you can't shoot, you can't win many games.

How do you only score 58 points and win by 4 when you take 19 more shots, get 19 steals and force 24 turnovers?

Answer: can't shoot!

The team certainly shows the heart but with this brutal three game stretch coming up (OM MIZZ and KU) we likely will start SEC play 1-7. I just don't see how a team our size can upset a quality team with the way we have been shooting.

Don't you think fatigue is a HUGE issue right now? Give em time. Morgan was in the high school 3-point contest, he definitely CAN shoot. The shots will fall with time

Only if you believe they are tired before the game starts. Look, Hickey and Stringer are not good shooters and their career numbers prove that. JOB and Coleman can't shoot from outside of 5 feet.

Morgan may turn out to be the best shooter on this team, but it hasn't happened yet.

We suck on offense to be honest. Probably only when 4 or 5 conference games.

It really is pretty simple. When we don't turn the ball over 20 damn times (like last Saturday @ Georgia), we can win a few games. Only turned it over 11 times last night while forcing Texas A&M into 24 turnovers.

I'm not sure if we're as bad offensively as people might think. We average around 72 ppg, which is pretty decent.

Just have to clean up some sloppy play to win a few games.....as mentioned, turnovers being one of those things and free throws being the other.

They are scrappy and get after their opponent. If the opponent doesn't turn the ball over, they beat LSU. If they do turn it over a bunch, the opponent should foul LSU, cause LSU can't make free throws to save their lives.

no, not nearly enough talent man

but I LOVE the style LSU will be now and in the future. The aggressive trapping pushing the ball will pay off in recruiting and bringing the fans back.

take last night for example. If LSU allows the Ags to dictate tempo, no way LSU wins that game. They enforced their style and took the game.

Not giving up on this season, just understanding what I am seeing and what it means for the future

Ludwig looks very disinterested sitting on the bench.
Help is on the way!

LSU shoot OK from the outside and they did a fair job of getting easy baskets. Free throws are still a concern. But outside of that the biggest problem I have seen is lack anyone being able to hi 15 foot jump shots.

We seem to be layup or three point team at this point. Need more slashing and pull up jump shots to really propel this team forward.

I did notice that when a&m got the ball under the basket they made it easy. When we got the ball deep we have a hard time getting even two foot shots to fall.

They will be ok, but based on what JJ is doing on the recruiting trail, I would say they are headed in the right direction. It will just take another year or two.
