I hate that people still blame the offense for these problems. Yes, the offensive line was bad the first four games. Yes, Brees kind of shite the bed for four games. That being said, we were still were one of the top ranked offenses in yards and scoring this year.

Except the offense didn't just have problems the first four games. The play calling became too predictable. "Let's run up the middle on first down and then do a hard play action and chunk it down the field. Oh that didn't work? Better go five wide."

Im not saying they where the only problem, or the main problem, but the offense certainly contributed to some of our problems. And yeah most of that was because of CSP not being there, but still.

5 turnovers in the 49ers playoff game last year.
Drew led the league in INT's this year.
And the most painful thing to type: 5ints, no TD's in our 23-13 loss to the falcons. The D made some stops in that game, but the O just couldnt get their shite together.

They are still a great offense, but they arent immune to criticism and they did play a role in some losses. Drew made some extremely stupid decisions with the ball this year. And every time he did, he would go sit on the bench by himself with his head down.

Bottom line is, CSP holds the team together, offense, defense, special teams, like a great HC should and he wasnt there this year. So every aspect of the team fell apart.

What game was it that ST's gave up 300+ yards in returns?

Never been a fan of ST coach. Fake punts given up. Bad coverage on returns. Emo and the short kick hicups.

NYG. Manning was spot on in that game though. We had good coverage, but his passes were pretty much indefensable. We just got beat in all phases that day.

And I'm not saying the offense and special teams didn't have it's problems. I'm just saying this defense was bad. Real bad. Regardless of the offense or special teams. Them not getting off the field on third down and allowing 200 yards rushing a game isn't the offenses fault.
Why can't we have a defensive struggle when the offense is having an off day? Why can't it be 3-6? Why was every game 42-48? Why were we last in yards and second to last in scoring?
I'm not saying they need to be the steel curtain, but they weren't even worthy of being called an NFL defense.
